It upsets me, I don't know why. It doesn't change the fact that we're married, but seeing him without his ring makes me sad.
My hubby is the type of person to lose anything that isn't bolted to his body. I think he has to get a new set of house keys cut every other month because he loses them. We picked out each others bands and he told me when I did, not to get him anything expensive because he might lose it (I should have known, every watch I ever got him he's lost).
Well, I didn't listen. I figured how could you lose something if you never take it off? Trouble is, he always takes the ring off when he gets home from work. We've been doing lots of construction work on our house, so he would take the ring off. But he never put it in the same place. I was forever picking it up and placing it in a safe place.
Then last night I noticed I hadn't seen it in awhile. First he thought I put it in a safe place, then he tells me that its in the house somewhere because he would never take it off at work. Trouble is, he doesn't know where it is. We scoured the house and can't find it. He doesn't seem to think it's a big deal.
Here's the kicker. It's not so much that I spent a lot of money on it (it's platinum with 18K gold on the edges), but I had a hard time buying it because it's a ring the designer no longer makes and finding his size was hard. So it's pretty much irreplaceable.
What do I do now? Wait until it shows up (like he thinks it will) or should I buy him a cheap replacement ring so he has a ring to wear? Just the fact that he 'lost' the ring we exchanged our vows with on our wedding day is making me so upset.
Pray that it turns up. Sorry for rambling, just had to vent on this Friday night

Re: Hubby lost [misplaced?] his wedding band :(
i know how that feels...it hasn't happened to us, but i do wonder about how upset i'd be if either of us ever lost our rings....however, it isnt the rings that 'make' you married...i would think that if he lost the ring in the house, it will show up eventually...why don't you wait a bit more and if it doesn't, then you can buy him a new one....if it makes you feel better, you can even recite your vows to each other once more and slip it on his finger!

Sometimes when you just stop looking so hard it shows up. I would wait to see if it turns out- in a few months if nothing, you can always buy another one Still- I'm sorry

They say to pray to St. Anthony for lost things. It has worked for me everytime.
Try it: Dear St. Anthony as I pray, return it back without delay.
I wish you luck finding it and give it some time then buy a replacement
Good Luck

It will turn up.. This happened to ME I had the same habit of taking it off to wash the dishes, then off again to clean the bathroom, etc. Well it was 'MIA' for about 2 LONGGG weeks
Long story short, I found it in the washing machine! and when my mom told me to look through my laundry, my response was kind of like 'yeah yeah as if i didnt think of that, thanks' and 2 days LATER, I just went to put the laundry in the dryer, and THERE IT WAS !!!!!! and a friend of mine was over, who had just told me thats how he found it, and I said 'yeah, whats the chance of that ??, and speaking of which, lemme go put my laundry in the dryer'......and I came upstairs yelling and screaming with my FRESHLY WASHED ring !!
Now I ONLY put it in my Ring holder. PERIOD !
GOOD LUCK finding it. Dont get too upset.

Jennbaby, thats SO CUTE ! to pray to St. Anthony!
My mom prayed to him when she was prego with me and my sis, just as her Savior Saint, type thing. She always prayed to him, that all would go well. Thats why I was supposed to be named Anthony if i was a boy (and thus my middle name is ehhh..... Antonella...).
Ive always loved the name Anthony too, so thats another reason why I names my son John Anthony

Ditto on the ring holder for keeping it safe! Whenever I remove my engagement ring, for safekeeping when I do housework or gardening, I ONLY put it in the ring holder by the bed.

Thanks for your support ladies. We're still looking for it. I went through every pants pocket and every pocket possible on all his clothes. I haven't done laundry since he 'lost' it (we think Tuesday). I keep telling him I don't think it's in the house We'll be seeing everyone for Christmas and he won't have his ring - oh well.....
If it doesn't turn up before his birthday (Jan 16), I will buy him a replacement. I found a few online that are similar, but it's still going to set me back $600 or more to get something similar. Ah, the price we pay for love (an a bonehead husband!! - all of course in the most loving manner!).
St. Anthony, are you listening?

Was it insured ?? maybe you can say it was stolen... (shame on me for thinking of this in the same thread that St. Anthony is in.... )
PS-Jennbaby, we also prayed to St. Lucia for when something got stuck in our eye.. She is the saint of eyesight. If you've ever seen a statue of her, she carries a plate with eyeballs in it... Theres a cute Italian proverb that we used to say as kids when something got stuck in our eye... I'll post it onyl if anyone understands dialect :)

Re: Hubby lost [misplaced?] his wedding band :(
i know how you feel about seeing him not wearing the ring, my DH got his ring sized when he was going through a bad attack of arthritis (its always bad through the entire summer) and now it doesnt fit at all ( plus we paid 800 plus cause its platinum and he had a big size , 11 , so he doesnt wear his band anymore,he doesnt want to take a chance and loose it, i guess until it fits again.
I told him i want him to go get another one that fits now so he will have one to switch on and off with (obvioulsy this one will be white gold!!) and he said he wasnt sure.. i told him i was ok with that if he was ok with having my name tatooed on his finger@!!! LOL

Trish, I am sorry to hear your hubby lost his ring! I can't imagine how you feel...I think I'd be crushed if my DH lost his.
But, I agree wholeheartedly with the other ladies...pray to Saint Anthony as hard as you can! (I'll pray for you, too!)
And if it doesn't turn up, I have an idea for you...if you buy another band for him, you can always go to the priest that married you and have him bless the ring, and witness you placing it on your hubby's finger. Maybe that will help your feelings about him losing the one you gave him on your wedding day.

Re: Hubby lost [misplaced?] his wedding band :(
my St. Anthony prayer is something is lost and can't be found please st. anthony bring it around it really has worked - especially for important stuff - but you have to really pray it, not just say the words! I would buy him another ring - one nice but not so irreplaceable - maybe he could wear that on a daily basis, and wear the special one on special occassions - I know you want to see him in it all the time, but this might be a better solution than him losing it someday for good. I am the same way - so I will not allow myself to take my rings off for anything - shower, housework, whatever. Of course, they are scratched and dirty, but I know I would lsoe them! good luck!

Re: That happened to us...
I'm so sorry. It will probably turn up when you are looking for something else in the house. In the meantime you can pick up a plain gold band for now.We actually each got two bands,a plain one for everyday and a nice one for when we go out.

Why don't you get him white gold for his birthday, just in case the lost one shows up. I would be so upset if that happen. Pray to St. Anthony - it has worked many times for me.

So any news on the ring??? my GF hubby lost his ring too, and as a surprise to him she got him a new one for valentines day. I guess after this incident ring insurance would be a nice addition on the one that will replace the lost/misplaced one

don't forget to take the new rings to your minister/rabbi/priest/pastor to have it blessed. I know nothing can ever replace the original.
