House Announcements ... for all of us new homeowners

I have a question for you moving into a new house! What are you doing for your house announcements? I was thinking about sending a notecard with a pic of our house and writing our new address inside. Any ideas?

I have a question please don't take this the wrong way. What is the purpose of the home announcement. I am asking b/c we are house shopping and my friend just sent us a home announcement. Well I was thinking are we going to do one? Then I thought I have never sent an announcement out when I moved before would people think we were just bragging that we got a house finally.

Here's an idea: Instead of a 'house annoucement' why don't you send 'change of address' cards to friends and family, you can find some nice ones in any Hallmark store, that's what a friend did when she moved into her 'house'.

Not sure if you guys already sent out your thank you's...but you can always send something like a business card that says 'Our new home' or something like that....with your name and address etc.... in with the thank you.

We are doing a notecard with either a picture of the house or just our monogram. I plan on printing them up myself so Ill have to see how the pictures of the house turn out.

House announcements are nice...they are basically change of address notifications...my sister did them when she bought a house...so cute!

I think I would also do it as a change of address, and something like 'you are welcome to our home' and go ahead and add a picture :)
post pics of your finished notecards !

What I did was, well my story was different. We closed on the house a month before we got married, and at the wedding, in the back of the programs, I wrote something like
'friends and family, you are all welcome to our home' and put our address and ph # and several people sent us xmas cards and called that year, and had the info from the program at the wedding.

Just general advice : If youre doing it close to a holiday, put them in with your holiday cards, but this time of year, no one really sends cards, unless you send some Valentines or Easter cards to closer family. I sent baby announcements with our xmas cards and then put in the xmas photo too.

I used Martha Stewart cards. They said 'we're home' on the front in small red letters and inside was a pop-up house on the top and 4 lines for address and phone... They were a big hit!

We included little note cards that I made with our TY's.

One side said:
It's time to update your address book
The XXX's are moving!

And the back said:
As of January 31, 2003
Michelle and Roland
will be residing at
XXXXX St.

I had my wedding calligrapher do mine. I will post a photo soon. They have our first-intial monogram on the top ( from our invite set) and our new address. I would like to get them out in a week or two.

Thanks for the responses ... it's really a change of address announcement for our close friends and family! I wanted to put a pic of the house in front or something clever! We'll probably move in around March!!
