Anyone's baby ever been on a monitor?

- or know anyone who was? Our Olivia had stopped breathing in the hospital and was sent home on a monitor. I believe they are going to take her off at the end of this month - b/c it hasn't happened since (Thank God) but it's still so hard to take her off - even though the doctors say we can. It's difficult to turn it off when she is asleep. Therefore, even if they say she can come off - I'm leaving her on - I don't know when I will be able to do it -
I was just curious if anyone else has been through this.
Thanks!

Maybe you can find out more information on why this happens on the internet. I would also ask the doctors more questions. I can't blame you for not wanting to turn it off now until you get more answers.

Tara - Emma has never been on a monitor BUT I have seen mat like things that you can put your precious little baby on when she is sleeping and if she stops moving (breathing) for more than 10 seconds or so an alarm goes off. I cant remember for the life of me where I saw it but I think they have it at BRU. Its definately worth the $100 for peace of mind

I have the Bebe Sounds Angelcare monitor. Check it out on the BRU website. It has a sensor pad you put under the mattress. It goes off after 20 seconds of no movement. We have been using it for 3.5 months with no false alarms. It helps me sleep knowing the alarm will sound if there is no breathing. It costs $99 (last I saw) and I feel my child is worth every penny of it.
