We are coming up with a more exact count of what we need to figure in our budget for tipping the vendors. Based on this web site and books I have read,,this si what Ia m coming up with..please tell me if I am off in any areas..I dont want to undertip anyone!! Photographer: $100 Videographer: $ 100 Ceremony musicians: 20- 25 each Matre' D_ 2-4 per guest Delivery Florist: 20 per person reception musicians: 100 per musician DJ: 100-200
I think thats it..what do you tip for makeup? I tipped 20 at my trial, but I traveled to her? Maybe 30- 40? It is 125 for my makeup? Also, do I tip the rev. he works for himself and is doing a 30 minute ceremony and keeps all of the cash himself?
Thansk to anyone who can give me advice here! Im stressed about this!!

I don't think you're undertipping, but you may be overtipping on the band (although I am by no means certain) - I have heard 25-50 per musician. I'll be interested to hear what others think as well.

i think you are right on the mark with everything but the band. after paying thousands of $$$ for an 8 piece band, i cant see spending another $800 plus meals! JMHO...

We are getting a huge deal with our band..they are usually expensive..but we know them,.they were going to play for free..but i wanted to pay them .they have mouths to feed..but they are still playing for cheap..so I figure if I atleast tip them 50- 100 .it'll help them a bit. How much do you tip the makeup artsist for coming to the hotel?

I gave my makeup artist $25. That was about 15% and she owns her own business.
Don't forget the photographer and videographer assistants, if there are any. Only my photographer had an assistant and we gave him $50. Otherwise I think you are on the mark.

Re: Tipping confirmations...can anyone help me?
i hear mixed thinsg about tipping the owners of a business. Evereything I have read in books says you dont tip the owner of a business..I am going to tip my videographer only because I know they are going to do a tremendous job and I dont want to nOT tip..but I know a few owners of businesses, restaurant, hair salon, nail salon..these owners dont expect tips. I think it is at your disrcetion. I dont have any assistants coming to my wedding though.

You gals are great on this site. I stumbled across this site accidently and the information that is posted here is so insightful. Reading this has made planning easier.
I have a question regarding tipping.. Do you tip the photographer and assistant as well if the photography place charges a service fee of 10%?? I'm not sure if they will see any of it as part of their tip...

Re: Tipping confirmations...can anyone help me?
I think I am going to tip my band a little more than usual because they are my dad's friends and will probably be cheaper than if I had booked them on my own.
but don't forget the bridal assistant...about $1-2 per guest
as for assistants vs owners...I gave enough for everyone but the owner...and I gave the envelope to the owner...that way he would decide how to divide it up...if he is a good boss...he will give it to his workers...if he is a bad boss...they should know...and not work for him...

Derfinately do not forget the Bridal Assistant. Also, the captian, Maitre 'D, um, thats all I can think of for now in addition to what you have already listed.
