who made a cake shaped gift envelope holder?

I know I've seen a few - who made them on their own? where did you get the supplies? Is it cheaper to make or buy one?

thanks - I had seen some hat boxes at michaels but it seemed like by the time you bought 3 boxes and the stuff to decorate it would be more than twice as much as the lillian vernon one.

MY SISTER MADE MINE! I honestly don't know what it cost for all the materials but I think that because my sister made it for me, it's worth more than anything.

It came out absolutely beautiful! Here it is:

I think it would be very easy to make...buy 3 different sized boxes...round or square...wrap...trim...voila!!!

It is the boxes though that are expensive, and then you really want to cover them in fabric, not paper.

I made my own, square shaped cake box. FIL got me the boxes (I think it was like 3 for 10 dollars or something) and I could only use 2 of them, and I used one other box that I already had.

Then I stacked them up, glueing and decorating layer by layer. I used plain white wrapping paper and not fabric, b/c paper is easier to glue.

After all boxes were put together, it looked just like a plain white square cake, and I decorated the edges with silk rose petals (I had to use crazy glue on those, since they were fabric), fake pearls and other stuff.

I probably spent $20 on the whole thing, and people thought it was a real cake
