Small Shower vent

My mom is planning and paying for my shower. All of my BMs are helping out with planning and such but my Mom is totally paying for it (I don't know when the shower is).
FILS and FH are from NJ and so are a lot of his family. We're at the FILs house and my FMIL mentions that people from their side of the family have been calling her to complain (since the shower invites went out) about why they aren't having a shower in NJ. I asked her who they expected to pay for a second NJ shower and she was like 'they expected me to thrown one'. She was just as baffled as I was, and didn't even entertain their idea.
I just don't understand. A wedding is about two people in love, joining their families. Having two showers completely defeats the purpose of that. I am sorry my Mom is inconveniencing you by inviting you to a FREE lunch an hour from your house. I don't get people sometimes, and I can only imagine the complaints once the wedding invites go out.

That is really rude of them to expect your mom to throw you another shower in NJ so that they arent inconvienienced! If they dont want to leave NJ for a few hours, why dont they throw you a shower there!

They expected my FMIL to throw it! She wasn't having any of that.

my FH's family is also from jersey and alot of them did not come because it was too far! what??!

your right its about two people in love and everyone coming together for the sake of the couple! everything else should be put aside!
