One of them has pools off the rooms doesn't it? There was a place in St. Lucia that had that - looked amazing!

If it is the one at the regency tust me they are not worth the money. I didn't like them.

I also stayed in the imperial suites on the bluff at the regency and loved it!!

We stayed at the Regency and LOVED it, but had friends that stayed at the Grande and loved it there too.. I think they are both great, and both offer most of the same things....the Regency is closer to the airports which is a plus, and the Grande has a better variety of water sports (jet skiing, water skiiing, etc.) The Regency does not bc the water is a bit rougher there. The Regency has fab restaurants which is great too. Honestly, I would choose whichever one offers a better deal at the time you are going - I don't think you can go wrong with either place, they are both beautiful!

GRANDE ALL THE WAY!!!!

We just got back from there on Oct 19th and it was GORGEOUS. We went to the Regency for dinner one night and DH and I weren't impressed. The whole downstairs by the bar/sitting area smelled like puke

The Grande was super nice, VERY clean and the people were just spectacularly nice. The restaurants were all good.

I'd definitely go back to the Grande in a heartbeat

I have heard that the Grande is the best one. My MOH went there for her honeymoon, and she said she kept hearing people who had stayed att he other hotels say that they wished they had stayed at the Grande. I guess all of the activities are there. And my SIL went to the Halcyon and said most of it was on a big hill that they had to keep walking up and down

I stayed at the Regency and would say the same thing about it - we loved it, and it definitely DID NOT smell like puke when we were there for 10 days, maybe someone got sick....

Re: Sandals St. Lucia Regency or Grande?

Can anyone give me details about the Grande and for those who think its the best and have been there...why do you think its best. Also, I heard the bedding is down bedding.. is that true? Did anyone get a honeymoon suite or the concierge/butler service? Was it worth it? How's the food? Did anyone leave the resort for any reason.. I mean to go out on a day trip or something.... Do yuou have to pay anything extra to go to hthe other Sandals' restaurants... what is at the other hotels beside the restaurants that you would want to go there for??? just asking... i'm totally clueless!!! Also, I think there used to be sandals' pre-show, honeymoon events.. like at a travel agency or something where they give you a full blow by blow... but I think I heard of that while I was living in PA... does anyone do that here? If anyone can also FM me about how much their total price was... I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

Re: Sandals St. Lucia Regency or Grande?

FH and I went to the Grande this past August.

I have to say that the hotel was very nice, but the island itself did not impress me. I loved the Sandals in the Bahamas.

PS: PICS IN ALBUM

Here are my pro's and cons

CONS:

1. The ride from the airport to the Grande is close to hours. It isn't even a very nice drive. People told us St. Lucia is nicer that Hawaii... if that is the fact, I’m not going to Hawaii! hee hee The banana farms are nice, but the town itself is Ghetto!

2. there were only 2 good restaurants: bayside (good and menu changes) and Italian. The other 2 were more causal and not so great. ALSO, I saw rats. I stood outside Bayside and a rat ran right past me. GROSS!

3. there are other Sandals that you can travel to and eat at, but to be honest after the commute from the airport we had no desire to be bothered so we sucked it up and ate there for 7 days.

4. The beach area is small. I would say from where the sand starts to where the water is only about 20 ft if that.

5. We never went into town, it wasn’t appealing and we heard some negative things and didn’t want to take a chance. (could be wrong on this, since we didn’t go)

6. There wasn’t as much or as good nightlife as there was in the Bahamas. I felt that even during the day it was hard to know what activities were going on. In the Bahamas, people were always involved and knew what they could join. They would give us a schedule under our door everyday and everyday we watched poolside at people playing in some activity. At the GRANDE we had to go to the front desk to see what was going on and I think because of that less people knew about things and there wasn’t as much participation.

PROS:

1. There are many things to do on the beach that are included (tubing - pulled by a boat, water skiing, snorkeling) and you can always rent a jet ski from the non-sandals people on the beach. There are also snorkeling trips and scuba diving- if you are certified. There is even a mountain you can see from the hotel (in walking distance) that you can go hiking.

2. Pools were nice. There is one pool that has the swim up bar. (Bahamas has 2 with a swim up) There is another pool right outside one of the hotel buildings. If you stay in this building on the lower level you can walk out your back door into the pool. Anyway, this pool is quiet no bar, so less people (often no one in it).

3. The VIEW from the hotel of the Island is breathtaking. The staff is Awesome!!!! The hotel is pretty too.

4. No complaints about our room. NO DOWN COMFORTERS (for whoever asked that), the typical one you always get anywhere. I would def recommend being on the concierge level.. having a refrigerator in the room is awesome!

… can’t think anymore..

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

How was the price range for Bahamas? same as St. Lucia?

Re: Sandals St. Lucia Regency or Grande?

We havent thought honeymoon yet, since we have 2 years still. I've heard great things about sandals in Jamaica (whitehouse) but that is all up int he air.

honestly I couldnt tell you about price.FH's mom is a travel agent so we always went under a discounted price. However, FH's mom awlays siad that St. :ucia was more expensive the the Bahamas

Re: Sandals St. Lucia Regency or Grande?

I was at the Regency last month on the conceair /butler level. It was great! Very relaxing. If you're looking for night life not the place to go. We had the private plunge pool which was cool. However I don't think I'd spurge on that again. There seemed to be a lot of little black bugs that you would have to skim off the top before you went swimming. The balconies were the pool is, is not completely private. The room next to you can see slightly into your area if they are looking out the 2nd story window.

Having the butler service was great. I probably should have taken more advantage of it.

The Grand's appearance was nicer, but I'm glad we didn't stay there because we really just wanted to lay low and relax.

yes the grande has this.

There is a pool in the center of the hotel, so you can book a room where the pool is right outside your back door. you can open up the door and walk right into thepool.. it is really nice. and that pool asnt used much when we wer there. I liked it and anyone can use it, however, there is no bar there, so most people hung out by the other pools.

sorry the picture is really small if you go to

http://www.sandals.com/main/grande/gl-home.cfm

and click more pictures you will find a picture of this.
