Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
I think it's a great idea. You can make a nice notecard with info on the charity and that in liew of a favor you made a donation. Many will appreciate it and you can't go wrong with charity! You can also thank them for coming on the card as well! It's a lot better than something they may never use.

Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
We are doing a donation instead of the favor. We will be making a donation to one of the Virginia Tech funds. FH went there and is a die hard fan of the school. We will let everyone know during the reception by putting something on each plate on top of the menu with a saying and the VT logo.

Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
We are planning on doing this but not sure which organization yet... prob the ASPCA becuase we both love animals. I was planning on putting a card at everyone's place setting explaining what the organization is and how a donation was made in the guests name.....
I also like the idea of a tangible gift so someone posted this on the BHB yesterday YUMMY Nice and simple i could prob make them too i figure each guest can get one and well there ya go

Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
At my best friends wedding they made a donation and they typed up a few words about the organization that they donated to in lieu of favors and put it in a nice frame at each table. It looked nice

Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
We were thinking of having that at the destination wedding and leaving a small note saying your favor will be mailed to you.
Or, spend a lot of money mailing them to disney... dont know yet... lol
we were going to do sometihng with the rainforest...
search for the 'I DO'' foundation online. This is what they do. Type in the organization name on there website and then you can purchase cards for a small fee...or just make your own. My BM did this at her wedding for the American Cancer Society and received postcards saying that the donation was made in honor of the Grooms mother who had passed...on each card was a pink ribbon pin to take home.... any not to sound bad...but its a tax write off!

Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
We are pretty much sure that we are going to do a donation as a favor. I think I will make up my own cards and maybe put some chocolate or cds with the donation card

Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
We are doing this. We made a donation to the American Cancer Society. They sent us 4'x5' notecards to put at each place setting. There were lots of choices for wording, colors, and shapes of the notecards.. HTH!

We are doing this as well. I think we will place a card at each setting. Both of our grandmothers passed away from cancer so are donating to the american cancer society. FH is a fireman so he wants to also donate to the a 9//11 widows fund.

Re: Donation instead of a traditional favor
I was thinking of doing this also. My mother thinks it is a bad idea because people expect a favor. I think it is such a nice gesture because so many times you get a little trinket favor and you never use it, this way your money is going to something good.
