My FMIL bought engagement announcements and plans on sending them out to people this weekend. Here's my concern, she plans to send some to people who are not on the wedding invite list.
I personally would be offended if I received an announcement then wasn't invited to the wedding.
What do you think? Thanks in advance!!!!

I personally wouldn't do that. I am not sure if its right or wrong but my gut says its wrong.

maybe she doesn't realize that it's rude to do that? Try telling her, or have your FH tell her, see what she says. She might agree with you once it is pointed out to her.

I know some people do that. I think it's kinda rude. But it's just to announce your engagment. If they ever say anything about why they weren't invited just say that you had a limit of people you could invite.

i wouldnt send it to someone who isnt invited...
i think if someone did that to me i would be mad...because its like guess what im engaged but ure not invited (but u wouldnt know u werent invited til later) and what happens if after the engagedment they send you stuff and want to be involved and ask questions etc...then u still dont invite them? i dunno. im just rambling
id rather wait and let them hear it through word of mouth or just wait til after the wedding and send out we're married stuff (that way at least u can have an excuse about the guest list).

i agree - if they are important enough that you care if they know, they should be invited and if theyre not impt. enough to be invited, they probably dont care

i would only send to those invited to the wedding in some way even if its only a church invite!! but its rude to send an announcment and then not and invite!

I know this is a bit different but my friend got engaged....and invited a ton of people to her bridal shower afterwards she couldnt invite all those people to the wedding for monetary reasons... well the people who were invited to the e party and bridal shower were furious..... and very hurt... I would say dont send out announcements unless you know for sure they will be invited.
