NYC Bachelorette Party Review
Hey girls,
Thanks so much for everyone who responded to my post about the 'drama' bachelorette party situation. I really appreciate all the kind words and advice.
The weekend ended up being fantastic and so much fun. I'm posting really early in the morning because I am in London right now for work and it's 11 am here! OK, on to the review:
Essex Restaurant on the LES:
I worked out a custom menu with the banquet manager Dave. It was so great. We started with platters of cheeseburger empanadas, tuna tar tar on these potato crisps and fried calamari with an avocado/habanero dipping sauce. Delicious. The choice of entree was a goat cheese and spinach stuffed chicken, manchego macaroni and cheese OR filet mignon with lobster mashed potato. It was divine. We were all so happy. The only unhappy camper was the 'catty girl' who out of spite sent her food back twice because she claimed it was 'cold as ice. Everyone else had hot food and there were no complaints. We ordered shots, martinis, bottles of chamapagne and beers. Open bar for 3 hours for only $25 dollars per person! Dinner for 10 people came out to $80 dollars per person!! needless to say, we walked out full, drunk and happy. Oh, and for dessert, I ordered delicious pink and white cupcakes from Sugar Sweet Sunshine across the street. IMO, these cupcakes are better than Magnolia and only $1.50 each (or less I think) a dozen cupcakes for $19!

Next, we headed over to the Slipper Room for a burlesque show which was loads of fun. We caught part of their 'go go' show and a bit of the burlesque show. Needless to say, we were highly amused. Loads of PG-13 fun!

Then we headed over to a bar/club in Murray Hill. The name escapes my mind but I think it was called Anartica or something like that. Music was great. Everything from Rihanna to TI. Great dance music. We danced until 3:30 and headed over to the Roosevelt Hotel.
The Roosevelt hotel was great. They accomodated us with rooms next door to each other. They were end rooms and it had a little hallway that connected the two rooms which was very convenient. The rooms were large but the bathrooms were a little old but honestly, who cares at this point!! The hotel was great and they even scored us a stretch limosine to take us to the restaurant!!! It cost only $5 dollars per person to take us downtown. it would have cost us the same if we took 3 cabs.
Following day, we took a car service to Long Island from the city. Cost $77 dollars for a van including toll to drive us to two locations in Valley Stream and Malverne. Totally worth the money as we were SO hungover.
I took the girls for Manis and Pedis at my favorite nail place in Valley Stream. The out of town girls were astounded at how cheap it is to get your nails done. In Colorado, it's 25 dollars just for a pedicure. They got both mani and pedi for $20.
Then, we went to see 27 Dresses which was a great movie and fit with the 'theme' of the weekend. Ended the night with dinner at Taiko in Rockville Centre and headed back to my parents house where we had a 'slumber party' and baked cookies.
All in All it was a great weekend. I HIGHLY suggest Essex for a large group of people. The open bar is so economical and the food is fantastic!!
Hope you all enjoyed this LONG review.
Cheers from London!!!!
