Vendor RAVE!!!! *~*~ Lighthouse Photography *~*~ EPICS
Every time someone is in need of a photographer, I’ve always been quick to recommend Lighthouse based upon the work I saw in their studio, their pricing, quality and personality of their staff; especially the owner Florio & Monica is such a sweetheart (she’s the editor – FYI: it’s all done in-house)!!
We recently had our engagement session and Lighthouse went above and beyond expectations!!
At first I was contemplating central park vs. the beach and Florio said he’d be comfortable with whatever I choose because what mattered most was our happiness; he never tried to push a location even when NYC was a good hike away and it took us both a good hour to find parking! When we got there I mentioned I wanted to take pictures is Belvedere Castle – we were on 64th street and we ended up walking to 85th street (and back)! Time was never a question but opportunities for photo’s were always number one priority and having fun along the way!!!! Our first stop was this beautiful stairwell and archway – Florio, always patient and kind was very careful to not get others in the pictures or background (it was a hot day & the park was packed) & ever so polite if we ran into the occasional impediment no one ever minded giving us the “right of way” or just clearing the way for a couple of moments – he was very professional and efficient in his delivery and set up. I suggested stopping by a park bench and Florio was more than happy to set up and shoot – he worked very well with me and my FH whenever we had a suggestion or request – the word no was not in his vocabulary, it was – always “Sure why not or happy to do so!!!” ~ Unless he saw something better or enhanced the pictures with his suggestions. It’s so great to have a photographer that’s easy to work with and who made us feel so comfortable– it felt like a relationship building and never felt like “point, shoot, click and out” – we never felt like “clients”, honestly, we truly felt appreciated (Lighthouse loves what they do) and the day just got better and better, and each photo op was better than the next.
We finally got to the castle and he made sure to capture all perspectives – I was so surprised because the light was a bit harsh on this day and he made sure to capture the right angles and light, devoid of shadow and landed the soft “romantic effect”. At one point we were told we couldn’t stand in a certain location – and after reading the fine print, I stated that we actually could in fact take pictures and if anyone said anything (which they didn’t) I would be the first to point it out – needless to say Florio got his camera right out and clicked away!! It was great and the pictures were even better. Sooo after the castle Florio suggested another location – though we got lost – Florio capitalized on the impromptu locale and suggested we shoot on this beautiful bridge and lampost and the result took my breath away. He has a great way of playing with angles, and lighting which captures “the couple” – not necessarily the poses (which of course are great too) but he made you feel “the moments” when shooting – he explained the detail and what he was going for – so we never felt like we had to try to hard, because it was all happened “organically” so to speak.
Sooo after we were done – I was kind of upset things were coming to a close (not visibly of course, I was so happy with what we had captured) – but nope – Florio was determined to find this place since he had gotten me so excited about it (we were central park virgins so part of the adventure was the discovery – all together) – turns out the location was all the way back on 64th (we had walked the entire length of the park – we were at 85th)….So he pulls out his handy dandy map, we pinpoint the (right) location and we collectively decided to walk back (I didn’t even think of a cab until now actually lol – I guess the day was just rolling that smoothly) it felt like we we’re hanging out with a friend… anywaze… Florio never expressed being tired and never made a mention of time – he was just ready to go- and we found even more places to shoot along the way!!! We stepped out of the park so that we wouldn’t risk getting lost – and all of a sudden we were in front of the MET (Metropolitain Museum of Art) and Florio says he has an idea – their was all these people sitting on steps and a clearing in the middle – so he tells us to get up their and kiss in the middle of the crowd (talk about expressing our love) sooo we get up there and no one paid attention much but what you got was this frozen moment when the world stopped except us – and he captured that in a picture. It made me cry when I saw it!!
Okay Sooo (I swear I’m wrapping it up) – so we finally get to the location (famous fountain) and he knows how much my fiancé loooooves the Infared photography his studio offers (one of the only studios I’ve seen with this type of photo option) and he surprised us with the special lens to take pictures at the central park fountain!!! He made sure to capture single photos of us too and we used the entire surrounding space – short of asking someone to let us hop in their row boat (I was about too hahahah) we took pictures by the columns (he was able to capture the beautiful ceiling and yet make us the center of attention), we played with the stairwell and even took a few action & fashion shots. SO… you’d think at this point we would be done (we were more than 2 hours in) – As were walking out of the park I notice this famous walkway with these beautiful trees and I just commented how beautiful the whole scene was – and he whips out his camera tells us where to go and shoots away, positions us, waits for it and made it legendary!! Okay so I was beyond ecstatic, we continued walking and now were in the final stretch (two blocks away from getting out of the park) and Florio pauses in front of this amazing city skyline... (I was like there was no way were taking another set of photos…) Florio tells me and FH he wants us to get up on this rock (just to see) and we play with a couple poses and suggestions and the outcome was nothing less than cinematic (especially since we’re both from New York – this picture delivered)!!!! I was absolutely stunned when this happened, totally unexpected and it was just such a great testament to the promise of photography the Lighthouse offers. You never needed to ask for more because it’s included ;) Let me mention that Florio had to be somewhere to go following our epics (later of course) and never once did he mention it to us (except for the beginning when we were laying out the day which is when I first/only heard it) we never felt rushed and though this fact was in the back of my head, Florio made us his No. 1 focus – and made the photographs the No. 1 priority; Lighthouse made us feel so special!!! They even delivered a special surprise at the end – which made me cry!!
With Florio & Lighthouse its not about time or quantity – You get what you pay for & more – his work ethic just blew me away and it wasn’t about just capturing a picture – it was about capturing a moment and delivery a photograph. They are true photographers in every sense of the word. His passion for his craft is felt in every lens, every photo, every click, which ultimately results in trust and absolute perfection. The Quality of Lighthouse photography is truly something you have to see in person, I was simply amazed by the stylistic photography both traditional and modern – and judging by the albums they really have a keen sense of tailoring and capturing the couples personalities, which spoke volumes about me and my FH when we saw our photos – it shattered the ceiling of our expectations (above and beyond). Lighthouse takes pride in their work – they have top of the line equipment which will deliver on promises of a diverse portfolio and provide a good variety of choices when assembling an album. They offer free retouching on all photos which came in handy when I chipped a nail hahaha!! But seriously…
Lighthouse should be the definition of what a photography studio should strive to be, passionate, professional, personality, quality and excellence. Simply stated – I could not be happier!!!
