Must Play Songs at Reception

Hi Ladies,

I am trying to compile a list for the band...what are some songs that you definitely want played at your reception?

Thanks so much!

there are so many possibilities!! I want to do a sort of 'decades' thing... like a couple songs from each time period starting with the 40s or 50s. I have a list I can send you if you want it - let me know. I grew up mostly in the 90s though so i want to do a cool 90s set, like jump around, hip hop hooray, real love, stuff like that... i dunno!

That is so funny because I want to do the same thing....start out with oldies and then end with more recent music...could you send me that list, it sounds like it would be really helpful! Thank you so much!

That is a tough question.

Here are a few older songs that are going on our play list:
Burning Down the House (Talking Heads)
Sugar, Sugar (The Archies)
I'm a Believer (Smash Mouth)
La Bamba (Los Lobos)
Come Together (Macy Gray)
Brass in Pocket (The Pretenders)
Babylon (David Gray)
Rag Mama Rag (The Band)

A suggestion our DJ made -- and I like -- is to look for newer versions of old songs. ITunes is a big help if you want to explore that angle. You look up the song name and you see all the different artists that took a crack at it over the years. Be warned: you can burn through hours doing this!
