Has anyone ever been to an event at the Queens County Farm? I seen pictures of a a wedding held there on theknot.com. It looked really nice. The site fee for the barn is $1,100 and it accomodates up to 120 with a dance floor. I think I'm going to take a look at it this Friday. Maybe we could have our ceremony in the Pavilion and then our reception in the barn.
They don't offer catering though and we would have to hire our own. We also have to rent the tables, chairs, place settings, etc...I'd like to find a caterer that specializes in Spanish food. Do you know any really inexpensive caterers?? How much do do you think it would cost for a reception of 60-75 people?
Thanks!!

Hey Maureeen,
I checked out the website. Very nice. If you check it out let me know. In all honesty it seems like a lot less money. In the beginning fh and I thought seriously about doing a wedding/reception like that. But, like you said you have to find a caterer. I will check around and ask my friends if they know of any good Spanish caterers.

I think it would be more for just a regular party, but I guess you have to see for yourself.

Thanks Jayla! That would be great!
I'm going to check it out because it might be really nice. You never know. Also FH is getting nervous about the cost of a wedding and is now pushing for us to elope at the Adventura Spa Palace. If I can find a nice cheaper option here that would help. I guess I just have to come to the realization that we can't afford to have a beautiful wedding like all of you girls. I have to try to think of something within our means instead of having champagne tastes and beer pockets. I saw really nice pics of a couple who got married there on theknot.com. Also here are some other pics. The first pic is the pavilion. I guess I could have my ceremony there. The second pic is inside the barn.
Maureen- I called Tavern on the green for you and they wont give prices over the phone...I posted this on a mb where ALOT of people got married there so i will check later to see the responses.

Did you try Cafe on the green?? It's in Queens. It's a really nice place. You should look there too. I have been to the queens farm before. But for a fair. It looks pretty from the pics you posted though. I will ask around about caters. I know of alot of Italian ones if you want there info.

You can absolutely have a beautiful wedding there! And so unique! I think a ceremony in that pavillion durring Sept would look amazing. The reception room looks very plain which is great because you can dress it up in any style or color scheme that you want.
I'm also renting a place and bringing in my own food, etc. It's going to save a ton of money and be so much fun. I feel like now my wedding is something that I'm creating, not just attending.

Thanks Espo!! I really appreciate it!
Yeah, I tried Caffe on the Green. I really liked it but they were really expensive! I would really appreciate any info you have on caterers. I'd prefer Spanish food but Italian is great too. Thanks!
Thanks Aimes for the reassurance I really like the fall farm theme. FH is not too into it though but he agreed to look at it. It would be a lot of work though compared to just walking into a nice catering hall.

Re: Queens County Farm and Caterers
my venue was the same way... i had to get my own 'stuff'. my venue was $2550, so you're already ahead of the game from my budget. what's good about a place like this is that you have more freedom.
fm me if you need any advise
good luck

have you tried villa marcello in ozone park, or like roma view? i know that if you get married in like 'off season' jan-march its cheaper anywhere you go....i looked into the queens county farm and after all the rentals and stuff it gets pricey. good luck!

No, I haven't tried Villa Marcello. I don't like the room I would use in Roma View. I went to a Bridal shower there and it was the smaller downstairs room. I really want to have a nice ceremony area. We are going to get married at whatever RH we choose. I also really prefer an outdoor ceremony and I definately want to take my pics outside which crosses out the winter months.

re: tavern on the green. when we were looking to move up the wedding we called tavern on the green and they quoted us $140pp for a saturday night - not bad for the city. but they couldn't do it for us that weekend b/c it was the weekend of the nyc marathon and that's the day they feed all the runners, so the entire place was unavailable for the weekend.
eta - that was for a saturday night in november of this year.

Re: Queens County Farm and Caterers
I went today to look at it and I kinda like the idea. It would be some work though. FH doesn't really seem to care for it. He said he'd still rather elope. Here are some more pics. There were 6 other couples looking at the farm for a wedding today besides us.
Okay the pics didn't show up. I'll put them in my album They include the tables and chairs. The price is the same, $1,000 for 4 hours and $100 for each additional hour, no matter the season day or time. The party has to end at 1:00am the latest. You can have it catered or just bring in your own food. They also have a sound system where you can hook up your ipod. I also noticed a projector and screen that can be pulled down I guess if you want to show a video, etc...

A friend of mine has his reception there. It was pretty, and definitely not the usual Long Island-NYC wedding. But definitely check out the prices of local caterers plus stocking and serving at the bar. It may work out cheaper, or you may decide it's not worth the bother of all those additional vendors.

Thanks girls!!
How was the wedding Munckin? Did they have their ceremony there as well? If so where? I doubt you have pics but if you do, I'd love to see them.
How does the bar work? Do I have to hire a bartender seperately? Do they provide they liquor or do I have to supply it?

Re: Queens County Farm and Caterers **Pics in Album**
I dont know how much you are looking at spending but apparently the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside and in Seaford are REALLY nice. Not like a typicall KOC or VFW hall. One of my co-workers just had her 2nd wedding reception there and she told me it was around $65/person for a Saturday night. So if you try Friday or Sunday, it can be a lot more affordable and the work will be done for you - tables, chairs, food, etc. Not to burst your bubble, but I have read that places that make you get your own tables, chairs, china, glasses, food, liquor, etc can actually run to be about the same if not more than a fairly priced catering hall (depending on the extreme you go to with the reception). Good luck, I hope I helped a bit, but if they are close to you, I would definately check them out!
Best of luck!

I agree..when you add up the cost of renting china, chairs, food etc it can really add up..Ever consider a cruise wedding? You can get married on the ship while it's docked in NY and have as many non-sailing guest as you want for like 35 pp plus you get to go on your honeymoon right after..
