I love those too!!!!! I have been comtemplating on getting the same ones for a while for my EIK. They would look sooo cute on 3 windows that I have where we sit to eat. I think they would look good in a living room.

I think they would look cute in a living room with the right furniture. I like 'em.

I love those! I have been on the hunt for shades for my kitchen windows as well, I will have to check them out.

Is this your formal LR? Will you have curtains, or just the shades? I think they are a great idea for a bedroom, but it may be too much with curtains hung on the same windows. Also depends on the furniture. I do think that these can work in any room, so you should be fine.

see the thing is the room is not that big, and the windows on the one wall are one on each side are pretty small (i think that bigger curtains might make the room look even smaller) and the window in the front is just a single window (that is until i get to put in the bow I want ) and i thought these might be light and pretty in the fawn color .... unless of course you think it wouldnt be formal enough...

Suzanne -

Those drapes are really nice BUT my brother has them and they are sooooooo hard to tie up and look nice. I went to visit him and it took me over an hour to make them look close to the photo in the catalog!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are not 'stiff' - would probably need starch to make the bow stand better. Also they wrinkle very easily.
I hope I didn't ruin your view on them - I just wanted you to hear what they are like when you get them home because they are really pretty but can be a pain in the @$$.

Lisa,
Thank you so much for your opinion.. I cant see them in the stores since they are an internet item only, so thanks, maybe ill keep looking around.. or at least just get one for my kitchen window and always keep it at a certain length..

thanks again!

Re: Pottery Barn Shades

There are two long pieces of fabric on the front and back of the drape. You need to fold the drape to the length you want it then tie the bows. All the excess material 'sits' in the two bows you made ... does that make sense? You have to tie the bow so that the fabric in the front is shorter than the fabric in the back giving you a sort of hammock for the excess material so that the bow will sit in the front of your drape instead of underneath it.
You definitely need talent (and maybe a few more pairs of hands) to get the 'look' in the catalog!
Like I said, they are really pretty but my brothers NEVER look like that!
