I am making up a list of the 'must visit' vineyards on the North Fork for my guests - with all the wedding festivities, they will only have one afternoon to do it in.
Which is your favorite, and WHY? I have not been to more than Gallucio, Raphael, Old Field, and Palmer...so I need help!
TIA!

Re: Favorite Vinyard on the North Fork?
I have been going out to the wineries since before I was old enough to drink the wine!
I have two favorites... 1. Pindar-they have the biggest tasting area and the most free tastings, not to mention they have excellent variety. All of there wines are good, white and red alike. They also have a tour of the winery every hour and in the summer they have a sunflower patch that you can pick your own sunflowers.
2. Pugliese-it is smaller and more quaint than alot of the wineries...they also have a large tasting menu. There champagne is fabulous. They also have a beautiful fountain with tables that you can sit outside and enjoy a bottle.
Hope that helps!

Bedell and Corey Creek...the sommelier's(person who does the tasting) at Bedell are great, very informative and nice. Both of these vineyards are beautiful too.

For the actual wine, I prefer Pellegrini Vineyards (Cutchogue) and Lenz Vineyards. Here is a good website with a list:
I remember reading an Oheka review of a girl who had a different wine with each course- I believe her family owns Macari Vineyards (on North Fork). I'm sure she'd be able to help you better.

I second Pellegrini as one on your list... They have seating in and out & I really enjoyed their wine. Also enjoy Pindar..
Good luck! :)

My family does own Macari Vineyard. It has the best rated wine, the largest (or second largest), the only one on the water, and the only one to use very little pesticides.
It also is probably the best looking. I would also recommend Raphael. I would not put Pindar on there. Its probably the most well known, but not the best at all.

How fascinating!!!! I never knew that!!!
And I have to agree about Pindar ... not a big fan but it seems to be the one everyone knows.
We usually frequent Osprey's Dominion. But we'll definitely hit Macari next time!!

We drink a good amount of Wine and have gone to the Wineries many times...
Regardless of what people said - We really like Pindar - the Champaigne is amazing...
We also like the Mythology.... Great tasting room and for a small fee they have cheese and crackers....

I know that Pindar is really popular for their large tasting menu, but I really can't stand their wine. It's only decent when you're really drunk
My favorite is Pugliese since I got engaged there. They have a pretty decent selection and some really different wines--like sparkling wine made from red wine! Lenz is pretty good for red wines according to FH.

I knew you would see my post at some point .
I agree about Pindar- really not so good, and overcrowded.

I'm not trying to brown-nose but Macari is definitely my favorite. I like the Jamesport winery wines but I have never visited there.

My favorite's are Pelligrini - Best Cabernets on Long Island in my and my fiance's opinion
and the Tasting Room (Broadfields) - Great variety and can taste from several vineyards.
Gallucio is also very good.
I didn't like Rapheal. The wine was not as good as other places on LI. The place is beautiful as you know since you are getting married there.

I agree with you. I think Pindar is over rated. We go to Osprey's Dominion. They have an awesome Strawberry dessert wine, and really good white wines (not a big red wine fan).
