some DJ questions (for all that have experience with DJs and their offerings)

Okay, so as I have been discussing, there are some things I want to get rid of and might have to replace something else for the $$.

What are some things you are getting that are unique to your DJ package?

Have you ever seen any unique things done by a DJ company at a wedding you have been to?

Have you ever seen live musicians playing along with a DJ- how was it? (for example, a singer, percussionist, sax player, etc.)

Should I assume that nobody is using a DJ or has never been to a wedding where there was one?

My DJ gave out light up Roses and had a Rose dance...which i liked more than handing out the sunglasses or blow up instruments...

I have seen the video montage and laser lights and smoke/cloud effecr and didn't like any of it

BUT a friend of mine who got married at Leonards had sparklers come out of her Cp's...when they were introduced! That was kinda cool for a night wedding!

I had plasma screens at my wedding and showed live simulcast throughout the night and then a montage during dinner which included our edited vows from our wedding ceremony earlier that day. It was awesome- especially for all the people who couldn't make it to the church.
I also considered having a percussionist and saxophone player- but all my friends had that added to their dj package & I wanted to do something different.

We had a high energy dancer and a light show, that was it, we were on a budget and my guests were raving about my DJ, in fact a few liked him so much they are using them for there weddings. I think as long as the DJ can get people out on the floor, and you are on a budget, why waste the extra $$. Hope this helps. PS Sometimes if you go overboard with the extras, it is overkill.

Soon2BMsZ had a percussionist at her wedding ( I was there) I really liked it. I would consider having a percussionist.

We are having live music for CH and singers and a percussionist with the dj.

I don't personally like the live performers with the recorded music. JMHO. I think my main issue with DJ packages is that they can sometimes draw too much attention to the DJ and take away from the bride and groom. I know that you wanted to switch some stuff for your DJ package, what other things do they offer?

Since your DJ is a really great one, why are you looking for info on others? Or do you just want him to add to the package?

I was gong to suggest my DJ too but since I read this post ....

She wasn't looking for ANOTHER DJ, she was looking for options to add onto her existing package.

Bri, do you have that list that Tommy Tunes gives you? I remember seeing it when my sister checked them out for her wedding. I remember there being a ton of options....

Someone already mentioned this, but I really like the Rose Dance, where they get couples to come out and dance with you and FH saying that for each couple that comes out, you will get another year of good luck. Each couple gets a rose.

Also, a few DJs suggested this alternative if you are not throwing your BoK. You can invite all the married couples on the floor to dance and one by one, they eliminate the couples that have been married the fewest amount of years. When you are left with the longest married couple, they bestow some 'marriage wisdom' upon you and they get your BoK. I thought this was a cute option too.
