BTDT Moms I need advise on swings

BTDT Moms I need advise on swings

We originally registered for a portable swing and the big swing. We have received both. My mom will be watching the baby 2 days a week starting Sept. I thought originally big one for my house and portable for hers. But now my best friend gave my Mom her old swing.

So my question to you is do I really need both or should I return one? And which one?

Personally, I'd return the big one. Cassidy is not a huge fan of the swing, neither was Scotty, but even if your little peanut is, the portable one will do the trick and you can also take it with you!!

Yeah - I'd say return one.

Honestly, I would wait and see.... Jordan and Mallory both loved the big swing and Mallory won't sit in the portable swing for more than 2 minutes....
I have this one.....

and one like this......

I don't think you need both. I got the portable swing, and I used it 'portably' once. Otherwise it was my only swing. If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten a full sized swing. I don't think she likes being so close to the ground, she gets restless in it very easily. I have a feeling she would have much preferred a full sized swing. Did you get a jumperoo? If not, I would get that instead of the portable swing. I find it to be invaluable, she loves it to death and jumps forever in it!

No I didn't get the jumperoo I thought that pediatricians didn't recommend jumpers anymore because of walking or their arches or something like that. But that is a thought.

I know my pediatrician doesnt recommend walkers...

anyways I have both a full size and a travel swing. I used the travel swing ONCE at christmas time. I have the graco that swings only front/back and if I could pick another swing I would have gotten one of the ones that swings side/side as well because they are much more snuggly (my friend has one and when I put him in it for the first time he LOVED it and I had to wake him up after 4 hours!!)

Id say if you think you are going to travel to other peoples houses then maybe get the travel swing...otherwise I would say get the full size swing. Also think about if you plan to use the travel swing as your 'full time' swing i your house its very close to the ground and picking the baby up out of it would be uncomfortable.

We also have the jumperoo and he loves it but isnt quite into the jumping (yet!)

I never heard that about jumperoo's! I heard walkers are dangerous because of stairs, but that's it. She loves the jumperoo like you wouldn't believe, she jumps and laughs for like an hour at a time! To us it's invaluable, I hope it's not harmful!!

I would keep the full size swing and return the portable. The portable swing to me is similar to a bouncer. My boucer isn't portable but I take it with us when we go to people's houses. Kiera loves her swing and has since she was about a week old.

We are also using the full size swing now to feed her in until she's ready for the hi-chair.

This is something I 'thought' I heard. It's definitely possibly I am confusing it with walkers, pre-pregnancy I didn't pay attention to things like that much. I will definitely look at the jumperoo- I am definitely returning one!

Do you use the jumperoo instead of an exosaucer or do you have both?

Thank you all for the advice!

I have both. We have two floors, so we keep the exersaucer downstairs. She likes the jumperoo much better.

well, you guys are making me nervous!! She is 7 months and has been jumping away for the last 4 months...so I suppose if there was any damage to be done, it's been done already! :( I know her legs are really strong, because she can stand up holding on to something forever, she never gets tired. Her ankles look ok to me for now, i'll keep my fingers crossed!

Don't be nervous, I'm sorry, I was talking to my girlfriend this morning and what she reminded me of what I probably heard was the jumpers that attach to the door frames should be avoided because they can detach.

But since this one doesn't no worries. I am heading to BRU to make exchanges. Thank you again!!!

Molly LOVED her swing so I got a travel one for when we went to my MILs (for weekends) or to my parents for the day. It was great for us. Every kid is different so keep it and if you need to return it you can.

Does anyone know what brand of swing goes side to side as well as forward and back?

Thanks
