I got a call from my travel agent this morning telling me that Air Jamaica canceled their flights to and from St. Lucia b/c they did not want to comply with the U.S. FAA regulations. Has anyone else heard this? I was booked on an Air Jamaica flight to St. Lucia for our honeymoon, but will now have to take American Airlines which is more money... and we are already WAY over budget with everything! uuuughh... Please let me know if anyone else who is going to St. Lucia for their honeymoon who was originally booked on an Air Jamaica flight also received this info. Thanks.

Close to that..unfortunately. It is extremely expensive to fly! My Aunt works for American Airlines and she said that St. Lucia is one of the more expensive places to fly to b/c there are no direct flights and it is further away than other islands, such as the Bahamas.

I do know that I went to Jamaica in February, originally I was on a Delta flight. That was switched to Air Jamaica, I don't know the terminology, but Air Jamaica does have some deal with Delta.
When we got to the airport, we were put on a Northern American flight, it was a real budget airline.
Air Jamaica's is 1/2 owned by the Jamaican government and the guy that owns Sandals. Are you going to a Sandals for your honeymoon?
I am planning to go to St. Lucia on my honeymoon too.

Have you checked BWIA? (British West Indies Airlines) I took them to St. Lucia when Air Jamaica cancelled my flight. We made a stop-over in Barbados though. It may be cheaper than AA

Air Jamaica is HORRIBLE we went to Jamaica in February and they cancelled a bunch of flights, we got a call 2 days before our trip... It was soooo bad...
Ive called and complained, etc. The real scoop is there having major financial problems!
SO AVOID flying with them if you can!!

She said that if I wanted to fly those days and not pay huge amount of money - I had to buy plane tixs for American by Friday (yesterday)! She said that starting Saturday, AA fares were going up and I should snag them ASAP. So, we did
But what stinks is my honeymoon is a registry and I was hoping to not have to pay ANY of it! Oh well, that's what credit cards are for....

Yeah...we were going to do the same.. but my TA said that there might be a better deal coming up, and since I still have time, I opted to wait and hope for a better deal. We'll see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

I know www.starwoodresorts.com and I think sandals has a HM registry. Since we already live together, I'm def. skipping the kitchen appliances and registering for the HM. We are thinking Fiji or South Africa through starwood.

Liberty Travel stopped using Air Jamaica due to many cancelled flights. so you might be better off!

FH and I went there about a month ago to look at brochures etc for honeymoons. The agent we spoke to told us the Air Jamaica story. I was shocked. I've used them many times in the past and it was always fine. I guess they're having some big problems.

My cousin just got married in Jamaica. My cousin got their no problem via air jamaica. However, her parents flight with air jamaica was cancelled due to lack of passengers. She got there a day later. Thank god she didn't miss the wedding, she would have been devastated. Air jamaica is a little shady IMO. I would stay away. Take american airlines.

We booked our HM to Sandals St. Lucia yesterday afternoon and our Liberty Travel agent mentioned to us that Air Jamaica cancelled their flights into St. Lucia. We got a pretty good deal with American IMO.
