Did anyone cancel their hall?

Did anyone cancel their hall?

We are considering re-booking at another hall. Has anyone done this? Any advice?

We did. Our original hall was in Suffolk county and it was > 6mos prior to the wedding. Therefore, by Suffolk Law, they have to give you all but $100 or so back. If your catering hall/reception site is not in Suffolk, I'd say just read your contract and see what the deal is. I think a lot depends on how close the date is, but most of the time, your deposit and any other $ you've paid is not likely to be coming back your way if the contract states it as such... Good luck!!!

I did and since the first hall was in Suffolk Co. had the above occur. I booked a hall in Nassau after that and got lucky that the hall is grossly irresposible and cancelled without notifying me. So no penalties other than a lost deposit.
Thank God the third one stuck!

We origianlly booked Port Jeff COuntry Club and cancelled after a few weeks bc I was very unhappy with their service.

I put a $1000 deposit and got it back in full due to the nature of my complaint.

We did. We wanted to postpone to later date because we needed more time. They said it was too late and kept the deposit...

Is there any reason why you want to cancel your hall?

I want topostpone at the same hall (same as yours) and they're saying they'll keep the despoit if they don't rebook the date, even though there's almost a year and a ahlf to the original date and we want to keep the same hall!

We did. We booked with North Ritz Club and then cancelled and booked the Carltun. I cancelled NRC with just about three months to go until my wedding date and I had already paid them $5K. They told me the chances of them rebooking it were slim, but that if did, they'd contact me and I'd get my money back. Long story short, I never heard from them, so the day before I was supposed to have my wedding there, just on a whim, I decided to call and pretend to be a potential bride, I said I was interested in checking out the place the next day. You can imagine my shock when I was told that I couldn't come the next day because they were booked for a wedding. So of course, my next move was to tell them who I really was and ask for my deposit back since they had indeed booked another affair on my date. They gave me the run around a little bit and I had to stay on top of them, but I eventually got all of my 5K back. I was annoyed that I never received an explanation as to why they never contacted me, but I was just happy to have my money back.

Re: Did anyone cancel their hall?

I booked a hall and then realized 3 days later that I had to cancel it. I called immediately to tell the caterering hall that I was cancelling, and they said they still keep the $500. deposit. I know we are entitled to $400 of the $500. back if the cancellation occurs 6 months prior to the reservation date. Ours was 7 months prior. What do I do now? My dad is really upset that we may not get the $500. back. FM me if you want to know the hall.
