Butterfly release
Hi girls,
I know there has been many discussions and comments about doing a butterfly release, and I wanted to dedicate a post just for this reason.
I bought my butterflies from the Florida Monarch Butterfly Farm, in FL. They offer Monarchs and Painted Ladies. I purchased 29 Painted Ladies and 1 Monarch for DH to release.
I spoke with the owner prior to purchasing them and was spoke for quite a while discussing the procedure and how they are transported, etc. He was very nice and answered my questions.
I received the butterflies on Saturday morning. They were in individual envelopes and in 2 boxes, packet with bubble wrap, peanuts and an ice packet. I replaced the ice packet with more frozen ones and left them in front of the Ac - as per the instructions.
I have to say that I felt aweful leaving them in those packets any longer then I needed to. I handled them with such care - I didn't want anything to happen to them.
Sunday morning, I took them out of the big box and into the bathroom to start warming them up and I checked to see if they are all still ok. Fortunately, they all were still alive and ready to be released.
I brought them with me to the hall and had them handed out to our family members right before I walked down the aisle.
After we were pronounced husband and wife, we all released them at once, and aside from the one butterfly I released who was a bit disoriented ( and almost got eaten my by dog when it finally took flight - since it flew ight in front of his nose), they all took off and it was very neat.
Everyone at the wedding commented on how great the release was and how unique. I loved it - but again, felt bad that I had to keep them comfined for so long.
So, yes, it is definately possible to have a release and have them all live - IF you follow the instructions and keep them exactly as instructed. It will be beautiful![]()
