Looking for the 'fun' tasks - is it wrong....?

Looking for the 'fun' tasks - is it wrong....?

So I'm just under 7 months away - and I have tons of stuff I SHOULD be doing......haven't picked out invites, haven't determined the actual time of the whole shin-dig, have no limos yet - -- -- - I don't even have BM dresses yet. But I have (magically) found the time to do my seating chart! I don't even have an invitation list finalized yet - but I wanted to play. So everyone should be happy to know that I've strategized the perfect balance between the family and friends who don't speak - and everyone's proximity to the bars!

If only everything was as much fun as seating charts!

Well, just think how excited you will be when seating chart time rolls around and you're like hey...I already did this! It's good to get something out of the way!

i have been doing the same thing.....i have my centerpieces, favors, and all other little details taken care of - but i have no photographer, no florist, no invites, no final list, no BM dresses.........i guess i keep thinking these things will do themselves....

Exactly! FH & I did ours...we were very happy about it...then...the In-Laws poked their noses around... I want my children next to me...this is the way it should be....AND we want blah blah blah and blah blah blah... Hello! It's one table! How many people do you want at your ONE table!
My advice...when it comes time...stand your ground and hide all seating chart paperwork far away from the In-Laws!

Actually - our friends are all segmented - in that there are groups of people who know each other to varying degrees. FH has very little family coming (most of the friends relate back to him ) - - and my family is pretty easy. The hardest person to seat is my sister (MOH) - but I'll just let her decide for herself.

Now if anyone else were paying for it, maybe I'd feel obliged to listen to their requests. But no one has stepped forward!

That is funny cause I already started to do a mental seating chart! I am thinking of who I want to sit with who, and have even talked to my mom and FH about it (meanwhile these people could say no - but I think they are pretty much sure things).

Lol, I've got a preliminary seating chart going of the definites! I started that along with our song list before we even had an officiant. Now we have that done but I have to order the BM dresses and still ask one of the girls!!

try to save yourself some fun tasks though, you don't want to be stuck with all the 'boring' ones at the end!

As I watch my sister go through the TRAUMA and DRAMA of doing her seating chart for my nephew's Br Mitzvah (which at this point may as well be a wedding), I applaud you. Half of her in-laws dont speak to each other. Half of our cousins dont speak to each other and have a tendency to make scenes in public at family functions. FH's family has similar situations. I consider this Bar Mitzvah as a test run. If anyone acts out, they get cut from the wedding list and I will thank them for saving us money. Adults can be more infantile than children.

My dad has approached marriage as a hobby. After three marriages and 2.5 divorces (a girl can hope, can't she ) - he's done a great job of dividing the family. Oh well - I'll make the best of it if it kills me (which it might!)

Yay! I'm getting married!

congrats. I took the easy way out. Since I'm having a backyard wedding everyone sits wherever they want. LOL

I totally see where you are coming from. I have over 10 months, and NOTHING but the dress, the church,a nd the hall.
Meanwhile, I bought my ladies room courtesy basket.
