All Clad Stainless Steel - Need Cleaning Help!

So, things always go wrong when I attempt to be Holly Homemaker. The chicken piccata came out great, but I don't know *what* I did to my All Clad stainless sautee pan but there are brown spots in the pan and I don't know how to get them out!

Can anyone help? I was using olive oil and butter and the brown spots look like splatter from the oil & butter. I've tried soaking and rubbing with a soft sponge, even picking at it with my nails, but no luck. I'll be so sad if I ruined the pan the FIRST time I used it!

There should be a helpline on the All Clad website or wherever you bought them should be able to help you. I had a problem with a pan a while back and I got it at Fortunoff and it was defective and they sent it back to All Clad and I got a replacement.

Hang in there. You probably did nothing wrong.

I don't have the All Clad, I have the Emeril stainless steel. I did the SAME thing- one use and they were filthy, with stains I can't scrub out. I'll try the barkeeper's stuff.

I just placed an order for my Barkeeper's Friend. I got 4 cans for $10!

My mom and dad just got the high end cuisenart pots and pans and they stained after their first use too. My parents got the magic eraser by mr. clean and that seems to work ok, but some of the sians are just in the pot and they do not come out. Also, having used them for thanksgiving - they were soooo heavy - it made cooking a workout.

Hi!

The Barkeeper's Friend, along with a wire potscrubber like this, should do the trick. Restaurants do this. And since the pan is stainless steel, you shouldn't have a problem. Your pan may have scratches, but that's very normal with use.

i have the same problem with my emerilware...they just have these ugly spots...the food still cooks good in them though..
i dont know how else to clean them besides hot water and soap..i put them in the dishwasher sometimes too.
I know that you shouldn't let salt get on the pan itself though...like if you are boiling water, wait til the water is boiling before adding salt so it doesnt settle on the bottom..that i know can stain the pan.

The manual with our stainless pans said to use Bon Ami--it helped , but not completley, but we had let the stains build up a little.

Also, put a little water in after you cook & simmer, to get any stuck bits off.

this is what I found on the website:

How do I clean my All-Clad?

For daily cleaning, warm, soapy water is sufficient. Clean your All-Clad thoroughly after each use. Food films left of the pan may cause discoloration and sticking.

To get rid of stuck on food or discoloration and stains from using too high of a heat, we recommend cleaning your All-Clad with a product called Bar Keeper’s Friend.

To use the Bar Keeper’s Friend, simply use a soft cloth or sponge and water and make into a soupy paste. This can be used on the interior, as well as the exterior of your All-Clad (excluding the Cop-R-Chef).

The Bar Keeper’s Friend can also be used on the exterior of the All-Clad Stainless collection, LTD collection, and MC2 collection.
For cleaning of the Cop-R-Chef exterior, simply use a brass/copper cleaner.

If your water has a high iron content, you may notice a rusty discoloration. Use Bar Keeper’s Friend to remove this.
