Where can I get inexpensive but good wine for favors???

Stew Leonards in Farmingdale, at the Airport Plaza.
Or Bottles and Cases in Huntington.
Both offer case discounts.
Also, Lake Liquor in Lake Ronkonkoma in Lake Ronkonkoma often has Pindar seasonal wine for $4.99 per bottle.

I dont know where you live, but out in suffolk, im not sure what town, maybe bohemia, there is a costco with a liquor place in it..they are really really cheap, we bought tons of wine from there for our e-party for under $100
