Question for you girls...

If you were under 30, just completed your Master's degree, got married, work for a huge insurance company, in a legal field for the past 5 years, and were offered to go to law school and the company would pay for it, WHAT WOULD YOU DO????????????????????

Im torn - do I want to have kids, house and the whole shibang that goes with it or do I want to further myself in the field that I've worked on for so many years and I am good at... what do I do????

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yours thankful!!!!!!

I would go for the career and have kids a little later in life. My mom had me when she was going to nursing school and was nine months pregnant with my brother when she finished. It can be done and its hard, yet its so worth it!

eta - go you. go you

oooohhh thats a really tough question!! I know that for me, I do want to start having kids within the next year or so, and if I was going to law school that would be very difficult. I am honestly not sure what I would do in your situation. Its a great opportunity they are offerering you, but you would have to be willing to put the rest of your life on hold for a few years. If you look at your life 5 years down the road, what do you envision? I think only you can answer this question... its a very personal decision.

I am assuming you'd be going at night, the 5 year program?

one of my close friends (you actually sat with her at my wedding) is working full time and going to Law school.

she doesn't even want to be a lawyer now LOL, but she is finishing. it is really butt-kicking and tough.

if you want her (albeit biased) perspective, we can meet up for a drink or lunch or something.

If however, you don't have to work full time and can do 3 years during the day...NO contest...go for it.

Okay, that's an amazing offer! Congratulations.

When did you and DH originally plan to have kids? If you weren't planning on having them right away then I say don't even hesitate and go for it.

DH is in law school now - it is beyond expensive. If you can go and have someone pick up the tab - take them on it!!!

As someone who who went to law school....GO! I am not saying that I thoroughly enjoy being a lawyer, but furthering your education is the best thing you can do. A law degree looks incredible on your resume. If the company wasn't paying for it, I would think twice because it is expensive, but since they are paying, this a no brainer....DO IT!

I agree completely!! But make sure you and your FI sit down and talk about this inside and out. It's a big decision to make!

Congrats on getting such an offer!!!
