**UPDATE** Dec 3, 2006
Sorry for no update any sooner.. things were kinda bad. Surgery took 11 hrs, was only suppsed to take 4-6. they couldnt get one of the lungs to be 'happy' as they call it. It was not repsonding. they said it was happy and working for about 20 mins then crashed. they had to put her on full life support and they said it was very hairy for a while. they werent sure it was going to be a good ending. The hospital never told us anything till i basiclly went to the OR floor and got busted by someone. that person finally got us someone who could give us answers 10 hrs into surgery. They had one of the surgeons come out and tell us that they have had her open for the last 2 hrs trying to make the lung happy.. we cant do anything more but close her up and hope for the best... that night she developed a fevor, and some internal bleeding. Really bad! but by the next day it had stopped the fever broke and she improved 25%. its still min by min, but improvement is good. As of today the other lung is not fighting us, it might be responding, there planning on taking her off the ventaltor tomorrow, which again is a great sign. My mom is a fighter she fought for more then 6 yrs to live everyday with this, and all she wanted for christmas was her new lungs. She said just before going into surgery i cant wait to walk down the aisle with you. (shes been stuck in a wheelchair). Me either. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes, were still not out of the woods yet, and things can change any second, but i believe that things worked out so well because this is our Christmas Miracle. We went into the city the night of the tree lighting got all the way from suffolk to the hospital in 40 mins at 5pm. My brother who lives with her came home early because he was tierd, and my sister was home sick, so she had everyone with her to take her in, we made it in great time, and the biggest part, next week they were probally taking her off the list for good because she has a foot disorder that they thought would only get worse!! Days before she gets it?? It just doesnt get any better then this. Again thanks for all the prayer, None of us can get through this without them. Also please remeber the family that made the donation of life. Without donors, my mom wouldnt be able to see me get married. Please keep them in your prayers too. If my timing is right, they were probally laying there loved one to rest today.
i know i dont post that often, but i really need help. I'm sitting in the waiting room of Mt. Sinai hospital in the city.. waiting for my mom to get her double lung tranplant... I'm going out of my mind, i'm so scared that shes not going to make it through..
I dont know what to do... Please anyone.. please say a prayer that she makes it through. I can't imagine my life without my mom, she is by far my best friend. thanks
