I have a few photography questions if someone can help me out...
I haven't met with any photographers yet but plan on doing so within the next week or two. I'm completely clueless about what to ask them. Can anyone maybe give me some important key questions to ask? What kind of things should I expect to come in my package? Do e-pics come with the packages? Please help me out, I'm all ears Thanks

I went in to photography appts like 'I don't know what to ask - what did other people ask?'
Main things were:
how long to get TY card pics? how long to get proofs? e-pics included? how many proofs? if shooting film, do you get negatives?
They pretty much explained everything else to me, like how many photogs, how many portraits, albums, etc...

Do they use film or digital? Do you get all proofs/negatives on a cd? How long does it take to get your proofs and albums after the wedding?

They pretty much run through what they offer. Best thing is to walk in there knowing what you want.
How many photographers does this include?
How much time does this include?
Ask them if you wanted to do offsite shoot on the wedding day does this cause a problem?
What albums do you like (magazine, std, etc) Look at all of them know what you want before you sign anything.
How many pics does the album contain?
How much after I sign am i charge per added picture to the album? (i am wishing i asked this before signing because now i am clueless)
Does my proofs come in cd? if not how much extra?
Parent albums - how many images?
How many prints do I get with this package?
Also know what style you want. do you want a mix of contemp (journalistic) and tradition or maybe a mix.
If you are doing video - see a sample of what you are getting with your package. Ask if you get raw footage and if not how much extra it is to get it. (asking this next week)
For engagement shots ask who does them, what is included, how much extra for them on a disk if you don't receive them that way.

Yes ask about proofs, most of them will tell you a minimum of proofs you will receive.
Digital or film...Find out if you get the cd with your pics.
-Is it color resolution corrected
-Ask about engagement shoot, most of them include this in their package now
-how many hours is the coverage on the day of your wedding.
-ask about what type of albums they offer you and the prices of those.
But many of them will tell you most of this themselves

Re: I have a few photography questions if someone can help me out...
Are you available for my date? Can we see your portfolio? Have you shot any weddings at my location? What style? Traditional? Photojournalism? Black/white? Color? Both? Added cost? How many cameras? Who exactly will be shooting? How many photographers? (one for traditiona shots one for photojournalism? Assistant?) How many hours do you shoot for? Overtime charges? Travel time charge? Back up photographer? Can you attend the rehearsal or visit location ahead of time? How do you coordinate w/ videographer? How many rolls of film? exposures? When will proofs be ready? Will I get to keep negatives? Garauntee? What if I'm not satisfied? Deposits and payment installments? Cancellation and postponement policy? How will you dress? References? Describe your philosophy and approach to wedding photography. What is the shooting schedule? What is the balance between posed and candid shots? (traditional vs. photojournalism) Do you bring back up equipment? Describe the most difficult wedding you photographed. When will photographs and albums be ready? Run through the packages vs. what you want/need, custom your package, get quote... Is this the best you can do?

Oh if money is tight now see if you can have the option to purchase prints and albums at quoted price after the wedding. If it's a go make sure the price list is in the contract!!!

Thanks for all of the sample questions. I'm going to copy all of them onto word and weed through them to get a very thorough list of questions to ask when I go. Might as well bring them a whole list of questions so they know I did my homework and that they should give me the best price possible...or else

Most questions will be answered when the photog. goes through the services and packages.

yea who you meeting with?
Yea the sales person or photographer will go through all this and just mark it down off your list. If he seems wierded out by you taking notes ignore it. its best to have everything on hand and in writing so you know what you agreed to.

I haven't decided who I'm going to meet with yet. Does anyone have any price quotes/package details that they wouldn't mind sharing with me FM. That might help with me figuring out who we want to go check out. Thanks!

I'm in the process of looking at photographers too! Make sure you ask them if they have a back-up crew, and that they bring back-up equipment. Make sure you talk them down or at least let them add things to the package you want. YOU CAN GET A GREAT DEAL!!! We looked at Spelman studio last week and were VERY happy with them. They were very willing to work with us and they they a bunch of stuff in. Ask about colorization and black and whites. DON'T PAY EXTRA FOR THEM!!!

Re: I have a few photography questions if someone can help me out...
I am very very picky when it comes to pictures, and i am looking for a photog that is not traditional.
Verdi 2 photogs 8 hours all proofs printed on 4x6 paper 1 Traditional album (NOT DIGITAL) $4500
Digital albums was $1200-1500 more per album No enlargements included all extra no thank you cards those were $2-$4 dollars extra No parent albums those were 400-500 each.
As much as i loved verdi and they were my dream choice, i can not justify spending that much.
After all is said and done, i will be spending around 8000 dollars and that is just no worht it also Verdi did not give you the pictures on a cd so you can do your own printing. That was an additional $1200 for the CD-Rom.
