Re: DIY save the dates
I believe there are 2 kinds of that magnet 'paper', business card size and the roll that you can cut to your desired length.
Either way one side is a magnet and the other side is sticky, like a sticker. You don't print on the magnet you print on paper and stick it to the sticky side, leaving the magnet side still exposed.
Need anymore help feel free to ask, and good luck!

Thanks so much for the help. I understand now. I didn't realize that the magnet had two different sides. Thanks again

Re: DIY save the dates
We printed our own. You have to use an inkjet printer and be sure it is a good quality one. Its fairly easy but the formatting for size in MS word is a pain in the butt if you want to do magnets that are not pre-sized like the business ones. I DO know that if you want to make business card magnets, Office Depot sells the pre-cut business card sizes. Like its one long sheet you print on but then it tears apart easily afterwards. Those have instructions that help you size them easily. Since we did photos of us on ours we wanted thema bit larger hence the headache to size them.

Re: DIY save the dates
I was thinking of putting our pictures on them. So I wanted the STD to be bigger then the business card. Were yours on magnets? If so how did you cut them?

Re: DIY save the dates
Plain old scissors-just make sure they are VERY sharp or it gets raggedy. The paper is super thin. It will stick to your fridge but you cant use the magnets to hang anything up. Just an FYI.
Wow yours are so cute. You used a sheet magnet and printed on the paper side? I am going to have to try that. Thank you so much for your time and advice. Also, you used photoshop right?

Re: DIY save the dates
Thanks and yep I printed on the paper side (no way to mix them up because one side is magnetic) and I used Photoshop-graphics major before I switched to education. Its fairly straightforward but f you need anything else just let me know. Good luck.

Re: DIY save the dates
TJB. its not hard at all. The paper in staples (I bought staples brand) is matte but it looks somewhat glossy. Its just not as glossy as photo paper. You have to purchase that kind and then print on it just as you would normal paper on an inkjet printer NOT lazer.
Steps:
1. Create your design in adobe photoshop. I reccoment creating it large (I used 8x10 format) because when you import it, if its too small its a pain to adjust.
2. Depending on which paper you use, there are instructions inside on how to format. You format in MS word as if you were going to make labels. *Go to TOOLS in MS word. *SCroll down to LETTERS AND MAILINGS *Click on that and then choose labels. You choose whichever size label works for you and folow the prompts.
3. When you have the labels set up on your page, you then go to each box individually. You go to: INSERT and then click on PICTURE andchoose FROM FILE. (Thats what will take you to wherever you saved your design.)
4. You do that for each box and just adjust the size with the little arrow thingies if need be.
5. SAVE.
6. Test Print it to make sure it is what you want and then if it is, you're done.
Hope it helps. FM me if you need further instruction.

Re: DIY save the dates
These are the directions I have using Word
Let me know if you need any other help
Materials: Magnet paper (can be bought at staples-4 sheets for $12) Picture to be set as background TIME AND PATIENCE
1. I used Microsoft Word which made it really difficult. 2. Copy and paste the picture you want to use 3. Resize it to the size you would like the actual magnet to be. 4. Right click and select format picture. Set the layout of the picture to be sent to back, so that the text shows up in front of the picture. 5. Copy and paste the picture 7 more times that way you have the same size magnet and you can fit 8 magnets on one paper to save you money. 6. Make sure you have the toolbar for drawing so you can use textboxes 7. I used the textboxes for the Save the date title, the website, the Date, and the Information box. 8. Right click and set the boxes to be in front of background. 9. Again copy and past 7 other times to put onto the other magnets. 10. Make a table if you want the calendar on the magnet. Again set the table to be in front of background and copy another 7 times 11. You may have to adjust the margins so that nothing gets cut off and this may cause you to have to adjust the magnets... i had to do this Many many times!!! 12. This is the way i wanted my magnets to look, but you may have your own vision, but thats what i essentially did and you can alter it. 13. Print!!! 14. Have fun cutting them!!!
Hope that helps!!!
