Need hair advice: straight and BLOOONDE: update with bad pic and no makeup :-(

Need hair advice: straight and BLOOONDE: update with bad pic and no makeup :-(

OK, so I got my hair cut again... I have a just below chin length bob, shorter in back, but not stacked. My hair is naturally very straight, normal in terms of dryness and it's thick but fine

Also, she just highlighted the crap out of it... lighter and more highlights than I was anticipating.

My hair is LIGHT.

SO

a) what's the best way to style my hair so that I don't get that stupid dutchboy curl under on the bottom... brush suggestions? when the stylist blows it dry it's nice and straight and frames my face so nicely, but when I do it , I get that curl-under that turns my hair into a triangle around my head and I hate that.

and b) how do I protect my highlights? I bought a Nexus deep conditioning treatment cause since she lightened it SO MUCH it's a little straw like.. and I'm using conditioner in the shower and Biosilk before I blow dry. I see that John Frida makes shampoo/conditioner with lavedner extract so that the violet will counteract brassiness... not that I need that now, but good to know it's on the market...

Anything else you think I should know/do/buy?

Thanks if you read all of this!! This super blonde thing is new to me

Not sure how to prevent the curl,

BUT

I would use a leave-in conditioner spray to protect your highlights, and keep your hair soft and shiny.

I use It's a 10 Ten leave in spray. It works wonders. My hair is straight, but VERY thick and tends to break, and split alot. But since I've been using this product, it has really brought the shine and strength back into my hair

I just read that back and realized I sound like an infomercial! But it really does work LOL

i love 'its a 10' too!!! that stuff is awesomeeeeeee

to get rid of the curl, I'd use a flat iron...i couldn't live w/o one!

I have a pic on FB but it's not a great one, so I'll try tot ake a better one when I'm in private so my classmates don't think they need to order a straight jacket and post it so you all can see..

you think a flat iron will work just for the ends?

Here's the photo I took the day I got it done... so it's not really illustrating the issue...

it looks so pretty! Love the color!

I think the flat iron will work....I actually have the opposite problem...I want my hair to curl in on the bottom, but since I always use the flat iron, my ends are straight. I think it will get you what you're looking for. Check out my e-party album - I used a flat iron that day

ETA - also maybe its just curling in a lot bc of the weather? I dont know what its like in NY, but today in Philly its rainy and humid and gross, so maybe that's causing the extra curl

I think a flat iron would defintely help. It could be curling because of the weather.. it's gross and humid out, so that doesn't help with straightening hair.

The color looks great, perfect for the summer!

color looks great!

DEF use a flat iron after you blow dry, so you dont get that curl

and when you blow dry, use a round brush and pull the hair straight and out...do not pull the hair and brush in a downward motion- i hope you get what im saying?

also use

Ever Pure shampoo

best shampoo ever...smells sooo good! It leaves my hair so smooth and shiny!

I dont have any color in my hair but the shampoo is designed for color treated hair- no chemicals no sulfates, all natural
I used it when I had hair extensions and my extensions lasted so much longer than when I used regular shampoos

its not as harsh as regular shampoos

PS, you guys, I don't even OWN a flat iron... my hair is so straight and usually long that I never really needed one!!

go to walmart...they have plenty of good ones for like 20 bucks!

a simple 1inch iron is perfect....and it can be doubled as a curling iron...if youre handy with hot tools

when you have a bob its sooo necessary, unless youre a pro with the blowdryer

i had that stacked bob for awhile, i could not have lasted so long with the bob if i didnt have the iron!

and i have super straight hair also!

Jenni- should I use a larger or smaller barrel brush? I'm thinking larger, right?
