I have been engaged for 4 months,I am going this saturday to look at gowns, because I am so excited and can't wait.. But.. Everytime I say I am going, people say 'ALREADY' and I want to scream. So. I knew my fellow brides would make me feel better. IS it ok? when did you start looking? thanks girls...

I started looking as soon as we booked our hall. I needed to set a date first, so I could envision where I would be walking down, etc. But i started looking through magazines as soon as I got engaged!!

I think I started in early May...bought in late August - after trying on *at least* 50 dresses, I would say closer to 70.

I started shopping for my gown immediately. It's the best part of wedding planning!!!!
P.S. I bought it like earlier in the month for my May 2004 wedding

I am getting married in Aug I am going to start looking the last week of this month when I go on vacation. I would atleast like to get the BM dresses taken care of during that week

I didn't start actually shopping (I did a lot of internet shopping) until 4 mo. b/f the wedding! I found my dress in 2 weeks, although I found lots of others that I liked too...but it was the first dress I fell in love with online.
I made sure to only go to places that had designers I liked, so that I didn't waste a lot of time.

I don't know if I voted the right way in your poll...but I started to shop for my dress 3 weeks after I was engaged...the total amount of time though from engagement to wedding is one year.
But, if you want to get technical...I was looking through bridal magazines months before we were even engaged, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted.
Go looking whenever you want...don't listen to anyone else!!!

I got engaged in June 2003 and I started looking last week, so I waited four months after getting engaged.
Some of the places that I have been to so far, do require a bride to come in at least six months prior to the wedding. Just go and try on lots of dresses. So far I've tried on 12 dresses and I have a feeling that there will be many more dresses that I will be trying on before I find the one.

I got engaged this past July and am finally going to start looking/shopping for my dress this Monday and Tuesday!!! I'm getting married July 3, 2004 so I'm hoping to find something on those 2 days since I don't have much time. I say go for it! It wouldn't hurt to start looking...
