Peekshures! Our vacation in Dominican republic!
vacation
We went to Iberostar Punta Cana and it was great! The weather was very nice! Even though it rained the day we arrived, it was sunny and warm the rest of our stay. The beach is breathtaking; the area of Punto Cana is famous for it’s beautiful beaches! The hotel is very well kept and the grounds are absolutely beautiful! (Just like Neicey said) Pool is enormous and very well designed. There are actually 2 huge pools but because they are not round, but of an intricate shape with little steps and turns and little private areas as well as a large water sports area, it feels like there are many different separate pools. You can have your privacy while someone is playing waterspots just 15 feet away from you, but you can’t even see them!
One down fall-there is no swim up bar. There are two bars on each side of the pool, but still you have to walk for about a minute to get there! I like my alcohol right in the pool!
The staff is very friendly and helpful! My DH speaks a little Spanish so that really helped a lot because while the front desk managers, bartenders and spa managers all speak very good English, the rest of the stuff really doesn’t! However, they are very friendly and try really hard to understand you and to be accommodating! But DH's Spanish definitely helped in many cases!
The place has 3 restaurant: Steak house, Mexican and Tropical Seafood. All 3 are included in the price, but you need to make reservations. Our favorite was Mexican! Absolutely delicious! Steak house was really good too, and I loved their plates (see pictures.) As much as I love seafood, I didn’t like the way they make it in the Tropical restaurant. Generally, I would advice to stay away from oysters, because I think I got a little food poisoning from those at the very last night of our stay! Everything else-salmon, shrimp and all other fish is perfect! And of course, no tap water! They put bottled water in your room everyday! That’s the only water we were drinking!
I was very surprised with the ice-cream bar! Unbelievably good ice cream! Plum flavored was my favorite!
Also, you can get any kind of alcoholic drink that you want at the bar! Some resorts limit themselves to just domestic drinks, but not Iberostar. And they make the best Pina Colata I ever tasted! Yummy!
There is also a spa. Resort gusts can use their facilities free of charge, but if you want a massage it’s $50 for an hour, which is actually very good price compare to NY spas.
There are a lot of different beautiful birds just walking around the resort. They are very friendly, and I even got to feed a few flamingos (see pictures).
I believe there were different shows and clubs every nigh, but we didn’t go. I think in a place like that it’s better to go to bad early and get up early to enjoy the sun and the beach!
The hotel building itself is a huge 3-floor constriction of pink, orange and white colors! We had a really nice room with a great view of the ocean! Overall, a great vacation!
