Clarice Joy Cooke and Reginald Dwayne Covington along with their parents Winsome and Vernon Cooke and Ronda and Ronald Covington are happy to announce their engagement.
The two graduate students from Amityville NY and Florence, South Carolina respectively were engaged on March 13, 2007 at The Heights Cafe and Grill Restaurant.
'Well Reg and I had been planning to get engaged for awhile, but I had no idea when he was going to ask or how he was going to ask.
The day before Valentine's Day we had reservations at The Heights Cafe and Grill in Ithaca, NY. Little did I know, Reg had everything all set up! When we got there the host escorted us to our table which was in our very own private room. On the table was a single red rose and a bottle of their finest wine. Dinner progressed with crab cake appetizers, Caesar salads, and seafood as our main dish. In the middle of us eating Reg turned to me and asked me if I wanted my Valentine's Day card. So, of course, I told him yes. He handed me a beautiful card and as I was reading it, he asked me if I wanted him to ask me. I had no clue what he was talking about, but he kept repeating that same question to me. Finally, I was like, 'hunny what do you mean by that question?' That was when he got up, walked round to my seat, got down on one knee, and asked, 'Clarice, will you be my wife?' I started crying hysterically because I was so surprised and happy. The wait staff then came in and brought us two glasses of champagne. I finally looked up at Reg and said, 'Of course I will marry you!' It was so romantic and sweet and just the perfect way for us to get engaged!'
They look forward to a June 2009 celebration at the Fox Hollow.
'Because of grad school we have decided to take our time planning the wedding so that we can both be equally focused on our degrees as well as plan the wedding of our dreams. The ceremony will be at our Church: Wantagh Baptist Church, and the reception, most likely, will be at the Foxhollow in Woodbury, Long Island. (We have not finalized that as of yet.) A traditional late afternoon ceremony will be adorned with vibrant flowers followed by an elegant and regal evening reception with all of our family and friends'
We wish them all the best.
