Kristie Sclafani & Matthew David
Friday, March 5, 2010
Matt and Kristie met at Touro Law Center, originally located in Huntington, NY, now located in Central Islip, NY. Matt was the store manager for Touro Law Center's Barnes & Noble College Bookstore. Kristie worked in the Department of Development, Alumni Relations & Communications, where she worked coordinating alumni events and fundraising initiatives for the school.
Matt and Kristie were introduced to each other in 2006 at a fundraising dinner at the Garden City Hotel. There was a connection there that did not spark until November of 2008, when they ended their past relationships and started a new one with each other.
The first week they started dating, they knew that they were meant for each other. Not soon after, they were dating exclusively. However, they had to keep it a little secret at work for a few months until Matt was promoted and moved to another store location on the Patchogue campus of St. Joseph's College. Matt and Kristie then told everyone at Touro their reason for being happy for the past few months -- that they found each other.
Over a year later, Matt and Kristie were vacationing in Las Vegas, Nevada. While on vacation, Matt planned a surprise trip to Red Rock Canyon on Friday, March 5th, so they could watch the sun rise at 6:05 a.m. As the sun was rising, Matt got down on one knee and proceeded to tell Kristie that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He then pulled out a custom designed ring from ELSA, a well-known designer on Long Island. Matt explained how Kristie makes him feel so 'alive' and his vision of their lives together, including buying a house, starting a family and living as soul mates. Matt then asked Kristie to be his wife. Of course, with much excitement, she said 'absolutely'.
Now, the celebrations will follow and they will live happily ever after ;-)
Congratulations and best wishes to the happy lovebirds.
The two, engaged on March 5, 2010 look forward to a July 3, 2011 celebration.
We wish them much happiness and all the very best.
