Sara and Adam

Sara & Adam

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Adam had surprised me and told me we would be going to Los Angeles for a few days before I had to go back to teaching. He said the details of the trip would be a surprise and I would find out what we would be doing once we arrived at the hotel. When we got to the airport, I was walking ahead of Adam and he let me go off without saying anything. He continued to walk to the business class line of American Airlines to check in. When I questioned him as to why we were going to that line, he calmly said, don't worry about it. We got up to the check in counter and I told the lady we were going to Los Angeles and gave her my license. Adam asked if I would walk to the side so he could speak to the woman by himself. I agreed and walked away. At the time, I was unaware he slipped the woman a handwritten piece of paper that said he was surprising me with a trip and he wanted to interline check our luggage to our destination. He also slipped the woman our passports since we were traveling internationally. When Adam returned to me, I was so excited with just the surprise of flying business! At that moment I couldn't even imagine what was to come! While a hour was left on the flight, I was watching a movie on the DVD player and he asked him if I wanted to play a game. At first I said I wanted to watch a movie, but after he said it was the game he wanted to play the whole time we were in Thailand, I gave in and said fine lets play. He proceeded with giving me a crossword puzzle titled The Memories of Two High School Sweethearts which he created with all of the clues being memories from high school to today. At this time, the flight attendants came over with two glasses of champagne. As confused as I was, I continued to fill in the crossword puzzle. When I finished filling in the crossword puzzle, he gave me an additional puzzle that said unscramble the shaded boxes from the previous puzzle to find out where we are heading. With some help, I unscrambled the letters to read Bora Bora. At this point, I was extremely excited and couldn't believe the surprise ahead of me!! As excited as I was, he said there was more. The next sheet that came my way had a title, 'Before we can go away....' and had a completed crossword puzzle with different numbers next to certain letters. I had to match the numbers to the correct boxes to fill in the next puzzle. As I was filling in the letter, I began realizing the puzzle said 'WILL YOU MARRY ME!' I was so nervous I spelled the word marry wrong! Adam then got on one knee and proposed. I was the happiest person in the world! The flight attendants were all clapping and they made an announcement on the loud speaker of the airplane saying Adam and Sara are now engaged! The creativity and thought that went into planning this surprise was the best part. I could not have asked for a better proposal! Congratulations and best wishes to Sara and Adam. The happy couple, engaged on August 25, 2010 looks forward to a July 30, 2011 celebration of love. We wish them all the very best.
