Kerry & Brian

Ski trips have been a long standing tradition in my family. We go several times a season but the day after Christmas is our 'thing!' Except for 2010... the snow had us locked inside for days! SO- plan 2.. ski trip for New Years Day. Piled in mini vans and cars.. the gang was on their way to Bellayre Mountain, our favorite ski resort. After several runs on our usual trail, Roaring Brooke, we decided to spice it up and try Deer Run.. all 12 of us or so ( the rest had went elsewhere.. or has Seanie, Mikey and Pat will say... I ditched them.. sorry guys!)
While on Deer Run, Brian had informed my Uncle John ( most commonly known as John Ward) that he was going to propose. John's reaction.. a fist pump to Brian with a few choice words...' You don't need my permission!' John now knew a secret.. and he kept it from dear Aunt Siobhan and the rest of the gang on this trail. After several runs on the trail Brian had asked why I was skiing so far ahead with Katie, Tara and Hannah- my reaction.. ' we're faster than you!' I decided to do the right thing and wait for my dear future fiance. Tara was along side us as well. As the gang suddenly disappeared into the trail beyond, Tara said ' Ke, wouldn't it be funny if he proposed right now' ( I swear, she knew nothing!) BUT, it wasn't an uncommon remark- we were constantly trying to predict the proposal! Anyways.. Brian pulled over to the side to fix his boot when he suddenly sunk into the snow- I of course started to laugh. I went over to him to help and suddenly everything became a blur. There Brian was, proposing! I couldn't even take in the moment, I was too busy turning around.. looking for the family, wondering, is this a joke?? Seconds passed and Brian was still down on one ski boot... i instantly said ' I do!' .. ' I mean, YES!'
It was PERFECT! We couldn't wait to get down the mountain to show everyone. It was right then and there that we realized the cousins had a bet going on about when the engagement would happen... Ryan won ( We still owe you a prize!) I still had a whole mountain to ski down.. after being all giddy with the ladies in my family, I said.. ' I feel dizzy, this is like a dream!' Bam, down I went.. face planted right into the snow! That was it for me.. my maid of honor, sister Katie did the right thing and celebrated with many beverages in the ski lodge!
We celebrated all day and night... it was an overnight celebration concluded with breakfast the next day, it couldn't have been better!
Congratulations, welcome aboard and all the best to Kerry and Brian.
The happy couple, engaged on January 1, 2011 looks forward to an April 21, 2012 celebration of love.
We wish them many years of joy and happiness.
