Joanna & Jon

My fiancé is a fireman and an amazingly talented mechanic. I had sold my old car to buy a Chevy Tahoe that needed an engine. I was nervous about this purchase because I had never done anything like this before. Jon assured me that he could put the engine in and turn the Tahoe into my dream vehicle. He worked for weeks, day and night, to take the old engine out and put the new one in. While I watched him I was shocked that he was willing to use his spare time to do all this work! When it was done he suggested we should take a ride out to the furthest point on the Island and put miles on the truck. We planned to do it the day after Thanksgiving, since we were both off. I should have known something was up because both our families were combined at one house this Thanksgiving, but yet I still had no clue. The morning after Thanksgiving we drove for what seemed like forever and then arrived at our destination. He pulled into a parking area with a pretty view so we could get out and stretch. When we got out, he handed me my set of keys and I automatically put them in my pocket without even looking at them - why would I need to look at the keys when they should have looked the same as the set he used?! Jon told me to take the keys back out and maybe take another look. I figured that maybe he put a special keychain or something but what I saw was even better! He put the ring on the key ring and when I saw it I automatically went into shock and couldn't believe what was going on. He actually had to ask me twice because I really couldn't believe that he had all this planned and I had no clue! In the end I said yes and the ring sits proudly on my finger! I now have an amazing Tahoe that I am so proud to say Jon brought back to life, but more than that I have a wonderful memory of our engagement that I will never forget! This Tahoe holds the story of our love and I couldn't be more excited to see the adventures it will take us on!
