10 year HS reunion... to go or not to go....

that is the question....

I have always said I am not going. Now it is creeping up (Thanksgiving weekend) and I am considering going. I heard of a bunch of my HS gf's that are going but IDK I still talk to them once in a while on FB so I don't really see the point. I know what they are up too, if they are married, have kids etc. A few other girls I run into from time to time at the gym, or out at bars and other than that I don't have much of a desire to see anyone.

Should I even bother... oh and I should add it's $120/head and at the same place our senior prom was, how cliche' is that!

Re: 10 year HS reunion... to go or not to go....

I was going to go to mine........but then it landed on your wedding day Even worse, they canceled it because not enough people were going

But then there was an impromptu 'reunion' at a bar back in September. I was so against going because I thought it was going to be stupid. But my BFF wanted to go so she dragged me along. I actually had a great time. Saw a lot of old people that I don't mind talking to, but don't talk to on a regular basis. It was nice to catch up, especially with one who is now in the military and happened to be home that weekend, and another that was an old boyfriend (wayyyy before DH).

I say go. You'll never know if you don't

See if it were just like a bar setting and hang out with some old friends I would go but because it's like this big to-do I'm even less inclined to go.

Re: 10 year HS reunion... to go or not to go....

mine was last year ... i didn't go. not worth spending so much money on an event that you don't even care about (and people you don't really care about).

for me, i still talk to everyone that i actually liked from HS ... so why do i need to spend all that money to see people i see anyhow and a whole ton of people who i never liked in the first place

sometimes i do think 'should i have gone'.. but seriouosly - i talk to everyone i would want to and now with FB you know to some extent what ppl are up too.. sometimes too much

Re: 10 year HS reunion... to go or not to go....

I say don't waste your money!!! I went to mine 3 years ago and it was terrible.. I spent 200 bucks for me and hubby to go to the marriott hotel where 20 people showed from a class of over 350!!!!! And to top it off it was all people that we basically see on a regular basis.. so it kinda was a waste of money in my eyes. Im sure not all reunions are like this.. but if it was me I would have just organized something at a bar with a 20.00 cover and Im sure a lot more people would have showed!! I would say find out how many people are goin first then decide!!

Exactly!!!!! and thats what we said after we went.. it should have just been at a bar.. But what I didnt know and my good friend was in charge of it. is that if you dont get the reunion people to do it for you.. then they wont help you locate everyone and you would have to find them yourselves.. so thats why they go through reunions just so that they can find everyone and send them invitation .. I was like today we have facebook and thats a good enough invitation to meet at a bar and I guarantee half the class would rather do that and be there!!!

Ouch that's expensive!! My HS reunion is that wkend too & I'd rather see my college friends than a bunch of people that made me miserable for 4 years. If you don't think you'll have fun, then don't go.

I just missed mine it was in October but I feel like with FB I'm in contact with most of my class anyway. There were only 54 students in my graduating class.
