Since a lot of us didn't work yesterday (I did though ) - how about a work question? Does anybody have somebody at their office that they just CANNOT stand?!?!
And how do you deal with it?

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
I do not have anyone in my new office but my old job I had this woman that no matter what she did, annoyed me! She had no manners, no class and she was weird on top of it all.
One thing that she did that really used to discust everyone (not just me) is that she would take the leftover sandwiches (from corporate lunch meetings), take the cold cuts off and pack it up to take home to her family. Now, mind you, this was a woman that was making alot of money and so was her husband. We could never leave food in the frige because she would eat it. arghhhhhhhhh....
The other thing that she did, that I finnaly had to tell her off about was, she would blow her nose (always had a cold or something), walked across the isle to my cube and throw away her durty tissue in my pail. It used to make me cringe. If you have a cold, do not throw your tissues in my pail. I finally asked her if she had her own pail, she said yes but that she puts papers in it and sometimes she needed to take them out. What, I didnt do that either. She finally stopped when I lost it one day. Everyone in the office was clapping that I told her. I was not proud that I had to yell at a co-worker but she had no class.
Im glad I do not work with her anymore.
And the way I handled it, thank god I did not have to work directly with her, was to just keep my distance from her. I tend to do that to people that I dont like. Better to keep my distance that to upset myself!

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
I had the pleasure of working with a few I could not stand. I just separated myself from them as much as possible, and eventually, depending on why I couldn't stand them, they eventually dug themselves into their own hole so big that the problem resolved itself (with mgmt). Unfortunately, there sometimes might not be a whole lot you can do.

Lisa Rose: I used to work with a girl (more like a pig) who used to spit in her pail. Where were they raised? How gross!

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
Novemberbride...I think this girl used to do that too! and another thing she used to do is take her shoes off at her desk and walk around the office. Now I know alot of people do this but her feet smelled so bad that as she walked by, you could just see the stink coming off...like Pig Pen from the Peanuts!! LMAO

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
You know what I hate even more is that where I used to work people called one another friend, but when layoffs started it was every man/women for themselves. You would hear that so&so told the boss that you weren't doing a great job, or that after you left someone would say something mean to look like they were 'on the bosses' side, when there really were NO sides to take. It taught me a huge lesson. I only have about 3 friendships that I ever made a work that lasted past leaving the company. I don't get super close to co-workers now. I am here to do my job, I do it and go home.

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
We used to have a maniac working here that drove everyone crazy. She was paranoid, hostile, volatile, disruptive, ____________ (insert any negative adjective here). She would spend hours pacing and yelling at people. She was so awful to have here. She was finally fired last year because of an act of violence. Ordinarily I don't like to hear of anyone losing their job, but I was so happy when she was finally let go but couldn't enjoy it b/c I was involved in the incident.
The office is so much nicer without her.

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
michele..ohh my god...i know exactly what you are saying. I left my last job on good terms but now I hear that my boss is saying that I didnt do my job correctly. I used to get so mad when I heard that from my former co-workers, now I just blow it off. I feel that I did the best job that I could possibly do with the resources I had. My co-worker said he actually defended me but I have a hard time believing that.
well, Im in a MUCH better place now!

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
There was a woman here who every time I made a mistake, instead of discreetly telling me she would scream it all over the office. I finally had enough one day and I told her that her behavior is embarassing and not professional. My boss must of been listening because about a month later she got transferred to another department.
Even though she works in the same office I have no dealings with her anymore.

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
Before we moved to this location, there was an older woman who made my life a living he!! every single day. That was her main goal in life for the 12 1/2 years we worked together. We would have screaming matches and she would mumble under her breath every single time she walked past my desk to get a fax or copy something. She would tell me to get off the phone and mark what time I came and went -- WTF?? Who the heck died and left her the boss??? And me being of the Italian temper, would lose it and scream and then of course guess who would get in trouble and be reprimanded like I was in school?!!! Not her, ever. I think I was the only one who had addendums to her job review!! None of the other attorneys liked her either -- they were all afraid of her, including her own boss. Well, after years of screaming and getting major migraines constantly, my wish came true -- I constantly told her to hop back on her broom and go back to the witches coven she came from and lo and behold SHE DID!!! Yup, when we found out we were moving, she was given early retirement and I got her job and now everyone, including me, is one big happy camper!!! I had to wait almost 13 years, but I'm just happy that my wish finally came true!!! So DING DONG THE WICKED WITCH IS GONE AND GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!

Re: 1/21 Question of the Day
We have one, she does not share in responsibility, complains when it is time to do work, has had complaints made by people she deals with (clients). she's missed answering the phone when on call one night (the boss had to be called by the answering service), is generally rude & nasty & whiny & complainy. AND the whole lot of us get along so nice except her. We even had a girls nite out recently & we were all big enough to decide to invite her anyway & she was SOOOO very rude as to not ever give an answer then never even showed up! RUDENESS!! (she is also the youngest on staff & I think she also has the Napolean complex!)
