1st Ann. weekend getaway ideas

Our 1st anniversary is fast approaching and I would love to getaway for the weekend. Can anyone recommend some ideas for us?

I am looking for a relaxing weekend where we could get a massage or two. Casual, fun, and within 2-3 hour drive from LI. I would prefer not to go out east since we are in the Hamptons almost every weekend visiting my parents. But if someone can suggest a fantastic place in the Hamptons I am all ears.

Thanks in advance.

Its not very 'spa' but lake george is a blast, so relaxing and so much fun.. but its 4 hours... lots of night life and day time fun like renting boats or boat tours..water skiing, sailing...

i could go on and on...

My husband and I went there for our 1 year anniversary and had a wonderful time!! They have great hotels, B&B's, antique shops, and restaurants!!

New Hope is nice and relaxing - good idea Lisa Rose - I should find out the name of the place DH and I stayed. It was a B&B - very nice and romantic. I will try to find out and post it.

Looking at the link Lisa Rose posted - I think it was Pineapple Hill and the Magnolia apartment suite.

We've been to this lodge in the Catskills twice - it's in upstate NY, about 2 hours. We found it by accident years ago and fell in love. There's a ton to do - wine tasting, antiquing, spa, white water rafting, tubing...

Go to this site and look at 'the lodge' and 'emerson inn and spa'. The spa is brand new so I haven't been there yet. WE've stayed at The lodge in a junior suite.

Years back when me and my husband were dating we went to Cape May. I havent been there in a while, but it was a nice little getaway town. It is right on the tip of New Jersey on the water.

Mystic. CT

It's a cute little town, with things to do during the day, and at night you can go to Foxwoods for dinner, gambling (if interested), and shows. They have shuttles fro most of the hotels, so you don't have to worry about driving.

Thanks ladies these all sound great! I can't wait to go home and begin 'virtually' visiting all these places

We may even have to plan many weekend getaways thanks to all your suggestions!
