We just booked our 1-year anniversary trip, I am so excited. We haven’t taken any time off since our honeymoon last year so it is well deserved. We are spending a week in FL. Now I wish we could have done that when there was 2 feet of snow here, but I take what I can get. The best part (can I brag here?) is that it won’t cost us much – we have the use of DH’s grandparents house on the Intercoastal in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and we will be spending 2 days in Key West at the Marquesa Hotel with a gift certificate we got for a wedding gift. Jet Blue rules too - $69 flights each way. One month to a vacation. It can’t come soon enough!
Does anyone had ideas for some fun things to do in the Lauderdal or Key West areas?

Key West is a lot of fun just to hang out in.
Ft Lauderdale is not too far away from Miami so you can go to South Beach one night or go to the Everglades.
Its a bit of a drive but Orlando is a few hours away so you could do a day there too.

If you are in key west you must go to Irish Kevin's on Duval Street( the main strip) the guy is hysterical you'll have a great time

The only time I was ever in Key West I was 21, and my interests were probably quite different than what you would find interesting/exciting today, so I have no suggestions, but I do know that you will have a WONDERFUL time!!!
I'm another Key West lover!!! the sunset is an absolute...
and Kelly McGillis's restaurant is pretty good...and she's the hostess...(I can't remember the name for the life of me...but I think its pretty close to the Ernest Hemingway House)

My hubby has been to Key West before and thinks I’ll enjoy it, so we are planning on spending 2 days, 1 night there. We will drive from the Lauderdale area. Our hotel is one block off Duval Street, so I will be sure to check out Irish Kevin’s (I assume that’s the name of the place?). We are going towards the end of May, so I am bracing myself for hot weather. We’ll probably do some beach related things while in the Lauderdale area, and we’ll rent a boat for the afternoon and cruise the intercoastal while in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
