Big day is 20 days away and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. I'm a horrible party planner and feel that I'm missing a lot of details and it's leading to nightmares and loss of sleep. please help me remember things that I'm forgetting!! I don't want it to be my wedding day and realize I've forgotten something stupid!@
My job is crazy and we began house hunting yesterday, too, so now my brain is total mush.
Posted on BHB but figured you newlyweds might be better at helping me remember last minute details, as you girls have been through it!

Re: 20 days away!! NEed help from Newlyweds!
My advice -- relax!! As long as you, your husband, and an officiant show up, everything that matters will have been taken care of. The rest, trust the vendors you hired to take care of, and choose now not to care if everything doesn't go exactly according to plan!

Reconfirm times & places with all your vendors and provide them with directions if necessary.
Gather all the things you are bringing to your reception place - menus, toasting glasses, cake topper, cake knoves, favors, place cards, special things you are displaying. Speak to the banquet manager about a convenient time to drop all this off.
Prepare a list of important phone numbers for all your vendors in case you need to call them that day - they will all be in one place. Give everyone that needs one a copy so they know who to call.
Figure out all your final payments and when they need to be made.
Assign someone to help coordinate all your must have shots. It should somebody that knows everyone (one person from each the bride and groom side) to gather and coralle everyone. This will really save time with group shots.
Remember to take deep breaths and look forward to this wonderful day you planned and the start of your new married life. Also make some quiet time for you and for you and your FH.
It will all come together and be beautiful.

do you have any of those check lists from magazines, the knot, etc...
make sure you schedule your final payment w/ the hall final meeting w/ DJ, florist etc... or call them to confirm, good ones will call you :)
relax, did you pick up your dress, make sure you have it like ten days before so if something needs to be done, they rush it

take a breath! It will all go fine ... you'll have a beautifu wedding & your nightmares will be a thing of the past soon enough!
Get a list of things to do. Do it weekly now, but as you get closer, you may need a daily list. Prioritize your list ... see what needs to get done now, what you can do to get out of the way & what you can wait on. Assign jobs as much as possible. Understand that you cannot do everything ... especially if you're house-hunting! Tick off the things you're getting done, a visual makes it easier to see how much you're accomplishing.
Make an inventory of things you need to bring to the hall AND how you're getting those things home. Put someone in charge of making sure your list is complete at the end of your night.
Bring a folder with all of your contracts. You may need them, in case of disputes with vendors ... ie florist, limo ... these are extremely important in case something doesn't go right.
Most of those timelines that you'll see published on wedding websites (DOES LI WEDDINGS HAVE ONE?) are extremely helpful. Look through those to make sure that you've got all the bases covered.
good luck! Don't forget to post your pics when you return!

Re: 20 days away!! NEed help from Newlyweds!
Definitely start a check list and continue to check things off as you do them. I had this huge long list and then it wound up being down to a few odds and ends and I was like what happened to that huge list? It winds down and you will remember everything, do not worry about it, everything will fall into place!
Have someone in charge that day of tips and any money that you have to give vendors, call on your BMs to remind you of little things in case you forget.
Consider trying to find a day-of coordinator. Honestly, you might be able to. Also, STOP house hunting right now. You cannot be Super Women. Focus on completing a few things every day, and try to take a day off too. THings to remember- -Call each vendor and confirm all details. Do they have directions, times etc...Make a list of all the vendor's names/phone numbers. If you need to find someone that day, you don't want to be running around trying to find a phone number. -Do you have ALL of the pieces to your bridal outfit? pantyhose, earrings, headpiece -Does your BP know where and when they have to be someplace? Do they know what the transportation arrangements are? -Is your hair/makeup all set up? DO you have what you need? -Break in your shoes!!! Wear them around the house and make sure the bottoms are scuffed a bit so you don't slip. -Ask one person to be in charge of tip envelopes. Give that person the payments/envelopes the day before. Try to pay vendors ahead of time, if you can so you less to worry about. -The day before re-confirm your limos and hair/makeup times/places. -Are your BP gifts wrapped and cards written out? If not, ask your Mom or a close friend to help you. -Confirm the guest list (again) and make sure you have your placecards marked correctly. -Start putting a box together for the Hall. Your favors, placecards, seating charts, etc... need to go there. Why not start the box now so it will be easier to pack up and bring. -Does your ceremony site have your details correct? Do your readers have copies of the readings? Make sure you give someone (such as a MOH) a copy of EACH reading just in case someone forgets their copy. -Does your DJ/band know the special songs you have chosen? Confirm the selections and write a list. Again give it to someone such as a MOH, in case your band needs to confirm your selections again.
