2nd wedding band...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my wedding ring, it matches my ering perfectly. But I get nervous wearing the diamonds all the time.

I was thinking of getting a band that matches my DH's. I have mixed feelings because it isnt the ring he gave me on our wedding day. But again I only want this ring for certain occasions (ex. working out at the gym).

Does anyone else have a second band to wear?

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I know I'm not a newlywed - but I do have a second band that matches FI's in Gold and then my Platinum Set that will be there when I get married. I will have my gold band blessed and wear it when I don't feel diamonds are appropriate. A few other girls on here have mentioned to me that they are doing that as well.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I have 2 bands, a diamond and a plain platinum that matches my DH's. Both were blessed in our ceremony. If I go out, I wear all 3 (band, diamond then my ering). I never take off the plain band (which is ironic, since I really didn't like it at all when we got it).

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I feel the same way. I love my rings now but I do want another one that I can wear to the beach, cleaning, working out, planting... The thing is, I always want to have a wedding band on, but I don't want anything to happen to my 'fancy' wedding band.
Maybe you can have your DH get the new ring as a gift,or for a special occassion, therefore it will still have a special meaning

Re: 2nd wedding band...

Maybe he can give you the plain band on your anniversary. That way that ring with have some important sentimental value too.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I have two. The diamond one matches my e-ring on my left hand and another on my other hand that matches DH's. I pretty much wear both bands everyday. I figure if there is ever a time I don't feel safe or can't wear my diamonds - I still have the other...

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I only have one now...a platinum wedding band. I plan to get one with diamonds down the road to wear on special occasions. I will have my priest bless it when I get it.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I wanted one before the weddingbut never got one, never saw one I liked or the one i want made.

Stef, thats what we are doing, he's giving it to me for a present, so its hold sentimental value.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

Looks like I'm in the minority...I have just one band with channel set diamonds. If I'm working out or doing something along those lines I just take my rings off. For me, all I need and want is one band.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I have 2, and neither matches Patrick's. I like his on him, but didn't feel like we had to match. It's a different decision for everyone.

I wear both bands every day.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I have 2 which is a good thing b/c the one I usually wear, channel set w/ princess cut diamonds, needs to be fixed!! If I didn't have my plain white gold one I wouldn't be wearing a wedding ring for weeks. I had gotten it so I would have a plain band to wear to the beach, working out, or weekends, and now I love now that I'm wearing it all the time, I didn't like it at first either.
It's cheap, like $50. The fact that it's not the ring I got on my wedding day doesn't mean a thing to me.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I'm actually looking into getting a 2nd e-ring b/c I'm afraid of wearing my original one all the time. My DH's family are jewlers and got me an amazing ring (more than what I'd dreamed of) that I'd be crushed if anything happened to it. Already one of the stones fell out and I was devistated even though they replaced it with no problem or wait. I am going to eventually get a cz wear around and a cz wedding band to replace my original one. I don't like the fact that it's not the one he gave me, but in the long run, I'll be happy that nothing happened to it and it's fine. I will wear it all the time except for work and to the city or for doing cleaning etc.

You have to do what feels comfortable for you!

best of luck
Lora

Re: 2nd wedding band...

Same as Niecey...I interchange both, wear my diamond wedding ring alone or with my e-ring or wear my plain white gold one that matches Gary's. I love them all. I bought them because my jeweler recommended that with our honeymoon but I like the fact that mine matches Gary's ring and we have our wedding date engraved inside.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I talked to DH and he thinks it is a great idea. So we are going to have another one made to match his band. I like the idea of doing it for an anniversary (but that is 9 months away!). However, I do think I want our wedding date engraved like in my other band. Thanks ladies, as always you have been helpful!

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I have two bands also. The secondary one has actually become my primary one, since having the baby and becoming a SAHM. It is a plain gold band that matches my hubby's band.

The difference with my rings is that DH used BOTH rings during our wedding ceremony, so both were blessed by our priest.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

I HAD two bands that were blessed on our wedding day, but Rob held the second one in his pocket during the reception. By the end of the night ... we couldn't find it. We don't know what he did with my other band. Oh well .... I'll get another again someday, but it didn't match Rob's exactly ... just white gold with a few diamonds in the front to wear to the gym and around the house.

Re: 2nd wedding band...

DH and I both have 2 bands. We wear the other, plain white gold bands for travel or when we are doing something active/outdoors. We like having the option.
