30 yr + women.. & thinking of getting preggers or not?

We have no kids and arent really rushing either. Been legally married and living together since 2003.
My father-in-law (is that what you call the man married to your husband's mother but is not his father?) .... actually came out and told me to get pregnant already. Sort of like Im wasting time.
Even suggested he'd buy us a house. *sigh*
Why do people act like having a child isn't enough you have to have children.. more than one and even if only one, hurry up and do it now. Why aren't people willing to let us just be happy together for awhile?
We want a child. Im not keen on more than one. But not right this second.
Our newyears resolution was to try... but not rush.
