Do you ever wonder if you have had a past life / lives? If so …what were they and what makes you think so?
Since I was a little kid, I have had this really strange affinity for the South. I feel like I was supposed to be shucking peas on some wraparound porch somewhere. I love stories of the South, movies, books – but not Southern Belle South….I swear I think I was some kind of slave or something….it’s something that has been with me since I can remember. (to the point where I find myself speaking in a Southern dialect sometimes!!!) And yet I have never visited down there at all. It’s my dream to head down to New Orleans, Savannah, etc. Someday……….. I am just afraid I’ll never come back!!!

Re: 3.12 Topic of the Day
I've sort of had that feeling, but more like I will have a dream about a place and then one day during my travels, poof! I'm in front of the place or I'll get this weird sensation that I've been there before. It doesn't happen all the time, but every once and awhile. My mother, sister and I all can 'tell' when something is wrong with the other. I was in a serious accident over ten years ago and the night it happened, my mother begged me not to go out (never asked me to stay home on a regular basis - I'd be out all night sometimes). She just had a 'feeling'. If only I had listened
Maybe we should open up a Ms. Cleo line or something....

I have totally had that – where you dream something and then you are there like a few weeks later – a place you have never been. Such a strange feeling. My mom always said that our dreams are our ancestors experiences. That we inherit memories the way we do brown eyes and short legs!
you are probably right....but I love thinking I had some deep dark secret romanticized life!

I don't know if I really believe it or not, I think it's more woman's intuition or maybe I've watched one too many episodes of Unsolved Mysteries. Maybe I should stay away from the heavy drugs

I am not sure if I believe or don't believe in past lives. I will have to think about this topic for a while before I post.

Re: 3.12 Topic of the Day
my old boss had an irrational fear of anything Titanic. Would literally go into a panic about it. Its 'suspected' he died on the titanic in a past life.
I don't know if I buy it, but I read this really interesting book in college about reincarnation. There were examples of little kids that had memories of being killed in concentration camps. These were kids 3-4 years old with the knowledge of things they couldn't possible know about. They were blond hair/blue eyes (reborn into a look that wouldn't be persecuted). I'll have to think of the name of that book - I kept it somewhere...

Re: 3.12 Topic of the Day
this is it:
A riveting firsthand account of one man's mission to investigate and document some of the most astonishing untold phenomena of our time
All across the globe, small children spontaneously speak of previous lives, beg to be taken 'home,' pine for mothers and husbands and mistresses from another life, and know things that there seems to be no normal way for them to know. From the moment these children can talk, they speak of people and events from the past -- not vague stories of centuries ago, but details of specific, identifiable individuals who may have died just months, weeks, or even hours before the birth of the child in question.
For thirty-seven years, Dr. Ian Stevenson has traveled the world from Lebanon to suburban Virginia investigating and documenting more than two thousand of these past life memory cases. Now, his essentially unknown work is being brought to the mainstream by Tom Shroder, the first journalist to have the privilege of accompanying Dr. Stevenson in his fieldwork. Shroder follows Stevenson into the lives of children and families touched by this phenomenon, changing from skeptic to believer as he comes face-to-face with concrete evidence he cannot discount in this spellbinding and true story.

I think I was a soldier in the vietnam war....i just get very weird feelings when I see movies or read articles...I feel as if I were there. I wasn't even born yet and don't know anyone who served in that war....yet it bothers me so.

Re: 3.12 Topic of the Day
I've been told by several different psychics that I am a new soul. I only had one life before this, and in it I only lived until I was about 2-3 months old. They have each said that I died in a horrible fire. Ever since I was born, I had a VERY strong fear of fire, even a birthday candle would send me into a panic. My mother told me that on my 1st b-day, she lit a candle on my cake and I screamed bloody murder until the candle was blown out. By my 3rd b-day, I would run out of the room screaming and shaking. My mother didn't put candles on my cake from then on until I was about in my teens. I hated goig to other people's b-day parties for fear of the candles!
It freaks me out that all of the psychics I have ever gone to has told me this, the same exact story. I don't know if I believe it 100%, but there's way too much coincidences.
BTW- I got over my fear of fire. It turns out that when I was 7, my parents moved into smithtown and we lived on a dead end with a large woods next to our house. The woods would always be set on fire by kids and therefore I was forced to get over it. Sure, the first few years were tough! My mom even considered sending me to therapy.

LisaT thanks for the book suggestion! I am definitely going to pick that up! This theory of past lives has always intrigued me. Even the idea of a connection to another time is intriguing to me – which may not mean past life – but some kind of bond …it’s all very interesting

Re: 3.12 Topic of the Day
I think I died in my past life in a car accident ... pretty morbid, huh? I just have this fear of not stopping and I don't know why! I actually was talking about this topic this morning and I would love to try hypnosis to get to my underlying fear.
As for ESP, sometimes I feel it - but more like I dreamt about the place instead of 'been there before'.
As for the psychics that I've been to Kel, I was told that I was an old soul and very much intuitive. I don't know how much I believe in all of this, but a part of me just wants to believe it. It's fascinating if you think about it!

Re: 3.12 Topic of the Day
Cira, I do know somebody who did the hypnosis. Weirdly enough, she was able to write down all this music and she couldn’t read a bit of music in her 'awake' state! (It’s true…I saw the music!). But I think that is more evident of just some deep ability that was tapped into as opposed to say…maybe being Beethoven in her past life! I think hypnosis is fascinating. I have always been afraid to do it . I have been to my share of psychics – but the hypnosis is a little more hardcore.

Re: 3.12 Topic of the Day
Jenny, I know what you mean.
Rob went through hypnosis to stop smoking. It helped him at the time, now he only picks up a cigarette if he's at a bar drinking (but not anymore with this new law) ... anyway, he says you are not fully in a hypnotic state, your unconscious is tapped but your still in the conscious as well (don't know how that works) but he also said that it is tape recorded, so you can listen to the session again and again (obviously then, if he had an urge to smoke). It was a bit different in his case, since the message was 'not to smoke', but still I'm intrigued and would like to try it out .. just chicken still.
That story with your friend is odd ... how could that ability be tapped into her ... that's just really odd - Wow!
