Its FREEZING here! Hasn't NY heard of a WARM welcome
The trip was great. Here's a short summary of the 4000 miles (you can see we didn't exactly take the direct path):
Wednesday - packed up the cars, and headed south to San Simeon. We went to Heast Castle (I've wanted to get there for years so we worked it into the trip). Then we continued southeast and stopped somewhere for the night past Bakersfield.
Thursday - left CA, through NV (did some outlet shopping) and entered Utah. Beautiful scenic drive through Zion National Park.
Friday - we stayed in Utah and went to Bryce Canyon - stunning! If you've never seen Utah, you must go! (pictures to follow - we must have taken 200 pictures in Utah, and maybe 20 other pictures on the trip...).
Saturday - blazed through AZ, NM, TX and landed in Amarillo for the night. Almost died on a dirt/mud road in AZ...fishtailing and going off the road. We laugh at it now, but it was NOT funny at the time.
Sunday - raced through OK and AK. My car hit 100mph for the first time ever. Almost made it to TN for the night. We stayed about an hour outside Memphis.
Monday - we head into TN and go to the Jack Daniels Distillery. Its in a DRY county, so you couldn't buy JD or even get tastings on the tour. That bible belt is a weird place...
Tuesday - Charlottesville, VA to visit some college friends.
Wednesday - Thomas Jefferson's house in Monticello, then head to my cousin's for the night in Ashburn, VA.
Thursday - Lunch with a friend in DC, and then straight to LI!
All together, we went through CA, NV, UT, AZ, NM, TX, OK, AK, TN, MS, AL, VA, MD, DC, DE, NJ, NY - 17 states, 4000 miles, 8 days.
