5/1/10 DISNEY QOTD

Here's today's Disney question:

For the girls who have been to Disney: What has been your favorite trip to Disney so far? Why?

For the girls who haven't been - what are you waiting for? Seriously, do you just not 'get' the whole Disney love affair thing? Can you ever picture yourself going there?

Picking a favorite Disney trip for me is hard....I'm going to think about it today and post my answer later.

Probably the last time that I went to Disney which was about 6 years ago, I went with sister, aunt, uncle and cousins from Kentucky. We had rooms next door to each other and just bounced back and forth between both rooms. We hit all the parks and the water parks, it was just a great trip all around.

I can't wait to go back, I want to go with DH

Well, this is probably a bad answer but one of my favorites was when I went down there with an exbf who had never been there before. We had PERFECT weather the whole week, there were no crowds, and I got to play tour guide and run through the park!

One of my other favorites was when I was in high school and went down with my family, 3 of my cousins, aunts and uncles and my cousins cousin's from Ireland. That was a great trip.

DH has never been to Disney, I'm working on convincing him to go.

I am having such a hard time answering this question because I always think my last trip was my best one but after thinking about this for a couple of days, here's my answer: (it's a long one so prepare yourself)

My best trip to Disney was my first trip to Disney. It was the summer of 1977 - I was about to turn 9 and the Magic Kingdom was about to turn 6!!!

It was the first time I went on an airplane and I remember telling my third grade classmates at the end of the school year that I was going to Disney and everyone was jealous. My parents planned and planned and planned. We woke up super early the morning we were leaving and got dressed up for our plane ride! I remember my mom making us put on our sundresses and sandals! It was so exciting. We stayed at the Fort Wilderness Resort. Back then they used to rent campers for you to stay in instead of the nice log cabins they have now. As a kid though that camper was better than any 5 star resort!! Fort Wilderness was really like the old west back then and my sisters and I had so much fun just walking around but we couldn't wait to get to the Park (only Magic Kingdom existed back then).

We got on the boat to go over there and I swear, I can actually cry remembering how I felt the first time I saw the entrance to the park and Cinderella's Castle! I thought it was the most magical place in the world. I remember my mom and dad taking us right to the Haunted Mansion and we were so excited to go on our first Disney ride! Back then you needed tickets for the rides and I think my parents almost went bankrupt buying them - my sisters and I couldn't get enough of the rides. But the shops and parades and fireworks were also amazing. We stayed in Fort Wilderness for 5 days and I can close my eyes and picture each day like it was yesterday.

So - that's my favorite trip - and the reason that I love Disney World so much. It's the reason why my sister and I bought a DVC timeshare - it's the reason why I think I've never gotten tired of Disney ...each time I go I remember that feeling I had when I was 8 years old and saw it for the first time - each time I go I still believe in Magic! I can't wait to share that with mine and DH's children....

Gina , I just totally got teary reading this. It's amazing how detailed your memory is of your trip! It seriously was a beautiful story. I truly understand the love for the Magic. I get it mama!!!

My favorite Disney trip would have to be my first real trip there with DH. We went in November and were able to do the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. DH is a HUGE Christmas nerd, and we just had the BEST time ever going through the lands getting hot cocoa and cookies and riding rides. They make it snow on Main Street the whole night! All the characters are dressed up in their Christmas costumes, it's really fun. We also had his birthday dinner at California Grill, and we received a Magical Moment while we were there. They came and took our picture, then at the end of the dinner they presented us with the photo and a certificate noting our 'magical moment'. This June we are dining at California Grill on our anniversary, which will be really special.

I'm a 'don't get it' girl...sorry! I never really had a big desire even as a kid, although we didn't have two nickels to scratch so I knew it was never a possibility anyways. I was a big daredevil as a kid, and loved going on all the crazy roller coasters and Hershey and Six Flags and Busch Gardens, but as I've gotten older I've turned in to a giant fraidy cat and probably wouldn't go on them again...and DH is a big stick in the mud when it comes to roller coasters too, so we'd never go. Even if we have kids one day, I don't think we'd bring them. It's just not really our thing.

Hmmm this is tough cause every time we have gone has just been amazing but if I had to pick it would be really close between the first trip dh and I went to almost 10 years ago or the 2 weeks we went for our honeymoon. I love it so much there and can't wait to go back in oct

I love that you have your magical moment photo and certificate!

Yummmmmmm- California Grill - we're eating there our first night in May - we got reservations during the fireworks at the MK. I wish this were a romantic DH and I trip but I'm looking forward to a girls trip with my mom and sister!

Re: 5/1/10 DISNEY QOTD

My favorite Disney trip was in the summer of 1973...yes, I know I am old....I was 5 yrs old at the time and Disney was all brand new (Magic Kingdom opened in Oct, 1971)
Being 5 yrs old, I really believed that all the princesses were real and I was mesmerized by everything. My parents had to take me on 'It's a small world' 10 times, I loved it sooo much. I got to sit on Cinderella's lap and I was so amazed by her! I will never forget it.
If you girls can even remember 'The Aristocats' ...that was the 'big' movie at the time. Also, I remember my Dad buying me the stuffed cocker spaniel 'Lady' from 'Lady and the Tramp' and it is still somewhere in my Mom's basement.
I can't wait to go back there someday with DH. He has never been and there is so much I want to show him.
Sorry for the history lesson!
