So we have all our TY cards ready to go (they have been written out adressed and stamped for a while but were waiting for pics) and they were set to go in the mail tomorrow....So today I find out that two of my friends who came to our wedding broke up with their serious boyfriends this weekend... My frist thought is to rewrite their TY cards 'cause I know that they are both pretty upset right now but is that the right thing to do seing as how the now exes were also guests...I just want to make sure that I'm being sensitive enough but also not making a big ettiquite mess I swear, this is another one for the 'you can't make this stuff up' pile
TIA

Re: A different TY Card Question
Rewrite the card, or just white out there name. Or get a sticker to place over the guys name.

Re: A different TY Card Question
I would just write the TYs to your friends and not make mention that their exes were also guests. If I were one of your friends and I got a TY card addressed to me and a now-ex-bf I'd be pretty upset. I think it would be better to receive the TY solo, that would prob spare their feelings more.
One of my BMs was invited with her bf, but then he ended up not coming. About a month later they broke up. I had intended to write the card to the both of them saying 'sorry X couldn't make it' but after hearing that they broke up I wrote it to just my BM and didn't make any mention of her ex.
I don't know what etiquette says but this just makes more sense to me. It's not like your friends are going to show your TY to their exes so that the guys know you appreciated them being there. HTH!!

Re: A different TY Card Question
re-wirte... not sure what the 'proper' thing to do is but if I was in your friend's shoes I would not want to receive a card thanking me and my ex....HTH

I would also rewrite. This way they can keep your note forever and not have any bad feelings because it has the ex boyfriend's name on it.

eta: I don't know if other people are like me, but I keep ALL cards, even thank you notes
