ACK.... update

this is soooo annoying.... I STILL didn't get a phone call saying my advisor is out of surgery and ok...... theoretically, if he entered the OR on time, he would have been out by 3pm... (I know almost all operations run late, so I fully expected that I would hear nothing by now.... none the less, it's so stressful! AND..... since I'm the contact point for all my co-workers, everyone is calling me to find out if anything is new, and I have no info for them

I'm hoping he's out, and in recovery, and his wife is just too concerned with him and their family to call me......

still nothing........ this is horrible. I can't stand waiting here

A co-worker said he would go down to the OR waiting room at about 5:15ish, see if his wife is around, be with the family a bit, and then call me with an update...... no call from him either

I finally got a call..... His wife called and said he is recovering, and everything went well. He had a quintuple bypass Obviously it will take months for him to recover.

I just made the dozen phone calls and emails to people......
All of us are so relieved.....

I do not know the details of why you need to get in touch with your advisor, but I will tell you that surgery is never black and white with relation to time, AND....this is serious. The last thing on his mind is anything to do with work..

He is with his family and thinking about bigger things right now.
I don't mean to sound harsh.....but please don't be annoyed.

sorry for not being clear... of course I'm not worried about work cr@p...

the only reason I needed to hear from them was to make sure he was ok, and convey the info to the department and his friends. we were all VERY worried, since this was rather unexpected.

I was getting pretty scared that I didn't hear from them earlier.... suspecting something could be wrong I'm sooo relieved he's in recovery....
