Advice on bridal shower

I am planning my sister's bridal shower which is in a few weeks at Irish Coffee Pub and need some advice on placecards. Has anyone seen this where the placecard is attached to the napkin at the table already with a bow? Do you think this would be a nuisance for people to have to go look for their seats? Its only 52 people. Any feedback welcomed please....

Re: Advice on bridal shower

It sounds like it might be because you would have to check each place seating at each table until you found yours. Especially for those who have eye problems.

Re: Advice on bridal shower

I dont think I have seen that. I guess it could be some sort of tag that with a hole punched in it that can have the ribbon looped through.

I think it would be a little bit annoying to have 52 women looking around all the tables for their cards. But what if you made a sign with everyone's name & table # and put it in a frame near the front of the room and then the guests can look for their place card, which could also be a keepsake, at the table?

Re: Advice on bridal shower

I don't think it is a good idea if you're having 52 people. It might be a bit chaotic.

Re: Advice on bridal shower

You could make a seating chart with everyone's names in alphabetical order, and their table number. It doesn't have to be something huge for only 52 people, you could do a cute 8x10 paper in a frame or something.

Re: Advice on bridal shower

I was just going to suggest what SomedayBride just did.

If you are really set on that type of placecard, I think you need a 'map' for everyone to understand where to go AND to make sure you dont spend the whole time explaining how it works to people :D

Re: Advice on bridal shower

Thanks everyone - I am having such a hard time with this....I think seating arrangements is a good idea esp. when people dont know each other and someone suggested this bow thing but I thought it was weird to have to go look for your seat.

Re: Advice on bridal shower

You could do some fun placecards all on one table.

Do you have a decor theme?

Re: Advice on bridal shower

Thats a good idea sonicstef. There really isn't a 'theme' but since her bridesmaid dresses are red - we are doing lots of red. We are using fresh red and pink gerbera daisies as the centerpcs, the bingo cards have red writing with the same flowers on them, red pens, and the favors are heart cookie cutters in red organza bags. I'm thinking of tying in the graphic on the bingo cards onto the placecards.

Re: Advice on bridal shower

How about tying the placecards to the red pens and then lining those up on a table. That way people can pick them up and then bring them to their seat.

Not sure what they look like maybe you could arrange them in clay pots using floral foam. Stick a few daiseys all the way in so there is a 'floor' of daisies with the pens sticking out. Does that makes sense?

PS: My shower was all red too. Very fun.

PSS: Here is an idea that I always though was perfect for a beachy shower. I know that is not what you are doing, but maybe you could modify to fit.

Re: Advice on bridal shower

Thanks sonicstef for those great ideas!!! I think I will do the pens attached to the cards. The umbrellas are cute too! Red is a great color - my sis is getting married in october (same as you right?). Red boa? - interesting...

Kel- ICP is really nice - have you ever been to an event there? I hope they do a good job.

I used to work at the Millerdige as a Banquet Manager - the restaurant, not the Cottage/Carriage House... I did A LOT of bridal & baby showers and everyone asked about this-

What I suggested was making 2 sets of place cards. One set of place cards would be @ a table by the door- (like they always are) arranged in alphabetical order by last night...

Then the 2nd set would be at the individual place settings.. your idea would fit here....

So I would pick up my place card and know I am @ table 3, and then I would go to table 3 and see my name at a particular setting.

I think the place cards are better than the map unless it's for 30 people or less- you do NOT want 50 people waiting to look @ a chart.. it just creates a bottle-neck.
