Has anyone ever dealt with this before? How did you broach the topic or handle it?

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I went through this with my father and have had a couple of other family members that had the same problem. Please feel free to FM me if you need to talk or if there is anything that I can do to help.

my father was an alcoholic for most of my childhood---but has now been sober for more than 15 years. so i know how tough it can be.

The hardest part is when they're in denial. How do you help someone who doesn't think they need help?

yes - that is part of my problem as well....she thinks we're exxagerrating how much she drinks.

They EXIST to help you find ways to cope with the situation (whether or not Mom gets sober, your life MUST go on and be useful and joyous)...
