Re: Ali (Coldasice)?

I'm home!!!!!!!!!!

We were VERY fortunate...our flight was just over 2 hours delayed, but it could have been much, much worse. There were people at SJU that were cancelled and couldn't get flights back in to NY until Wednesday and Thursday

The return flight had some turbulence, but other than that went pretty well. I still was freaking though, it was a little scary for me. But we're home safe! I'm back at work already, ugh, but DH had to drive me because my car is completely stuck But it was really nice, so weird to come from being on the beach and getting burned to a crisp to a blizzard.

Re: Ali (Coldasice)?

PR was a nice little getaway. I'm not 100% sold on it to go back there again, but we enjoyed it while we were there.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton, and I was very happy that it was clean, and had a very low skeeve factor for me (I get uber freaked out in hotels). But the restaurants there were mad expensive, and they were a little disorganized and haphazard with service, when we checked in we were told our reservation was cancelled I don't know HOW the eff that happened, I think it was our dingbat travel agent when she changed our package, but luckily we were able to get another room, and they upgraded us to a oceanview balcony as opposed to just an oceanview because the only room they had left was 2 doubles instead of 1 king, so me and FH had to get cozy LOL.

The first day we went to the beach, and it was overcast and a little rainy, but some periods of sun, but enough to burn the crap out of me. It's really, really bad...and patchy and weird looking. UGH. My ankle is swollen 3 times the size of the other one because of the burn But the beach itself was gorgeous, fine powdery sand, clear warm water, palm trees, so nice.

Then we went in to Old San Juan at night to walk around, but we had had a late lunch so we didn't get dinner there. We got a bit freaked out because we took a few wrong turns walking and got lost, and things started getting uncomfortable, but we did find our way back to the main strip and then left since we were a bit on edge.

Saturday we went to the beach again, but since it was sunny and we were already burned we made sure to get an umbrella! Then at night BIL's gf met up with us with her family, who she was visiting, and they took us to a real Puerto Rican restaurant a few towns over, which was really cool to have authentic food, but we had another incident when we were walking to the restaurant from the parking lot that made us really uncomfortable too, and we weren't a tourist group, we were with 4 other locals for all intents and purposes. Bah.

Then Sunday pretty much right after breakfast we had to leave to the airport. So really all we did was go to the beach for 2 days...didn't get to do any tours or museums or anything, but we really were just looking to relax, so that part was great. We might go back only because BIL's gf wants to go back with him and us to come along to do a group thing, and it's easy to get to, so since we have some sort of ties there we might, but I'm not sure if I'd do another resort vaca there. We did have a really nice time, but felt kinda limited to the hotel, and the Ritz was really nice but more family oriented and not much to do besides eat or gamble.
